Analysis Assistant Changes for 2023

Meh. It's difficult to get assistant coaches who don't have a connection to the city of Adelaide to make the move. It's not like players where you can pay someone say $100k more than their current club across 4 years and suddenly they have a decision to make. Nobody is moving unless they don't have an alternative - and even then, alternatives outside of football are likely to go close to trumping the opportunity to be an assistant at a club like Port, especially given you're going to have to uproot your family to take the opportunity.

Having said that, even if we are forced down the insular path, the current group surely can't be the best and brightest.

Nice to see the sweeping review of the football department has shown that we have no need for major changes......

Perhaps the players just need to work harder for longer?
PAFC Comprehensive 2022 End-of-Season Football Department Review

Recommendation 1: Shuffle the deck chairs around Hinkley.

Recommendation 2: We're out of ideas.

It's not really that difficult but you have to actually make inquiries & offers to generally get people to move.. shock horror.

Bassett to the backline is confirmed. Just swapping Cornes to the forwardline is very uninspiring and cheap. Talk about doing the minimum. Still, I'll take Bassett away from the forwardline at this point.

My source is good!

I'm underwhelmed. Was hoping for some new names.

They are going all in on stability and one last roll of the dice, a broom will be swept through Alberton this time next year.

Ken, Bass, Chad all out of contract then.

That leaves Carr and anybody else hanging about, it's all pretty obvious isn't it this time around.

It's pretty s**t that 2023 can be just about be considered a write off already. Such a waste of time.

Hamish Harlett with his s**t tattoos, underachieving talent ratio, shot hammies, Barnacle Bills Polo wearing 3 minute media snippets guy a nothing appointment?? I dont believe you.
Guy who famously never lived up to his potential now given the full time role of trying to get our young players to get the best out of themselves

Sounds like the back ending contracts has caught us out again. We got rid of Howard and Ladhams, mainly because of back ending exposing us.

Story is coaches agreed to take cuts for covid, but had negotiated back ending to post 2020 covid cuts to their new deals to try and catch up.

Probably why we didn't replace Voss and Schofield for 2022 season, and Monty out is then replaced by Carr in 2023.

RossFC when do we start the 2024 coaches thread? The writing is on the wall for the 2023 group.

That 2025-28 new peak years with our idea of building "the best U/23 list" in 2018/19 etc drafts will naturally have to occur under different coaches.

It's been painfully obvious since about halfway through the second quarter in Round 2 that the next two seasons were going to be treading water.
