Round Five - At Home vs the Demons
Hello Wazzas, welcome to the round five review. It looks a lot like the previous four reviews, but this one is pinker.
Round five had us back in the creature comforts of home after enduring the Spotswood compound. We have been dealing with our own demons this season, so it was nice that we had the Mount Buller ones come to keep them company. Both teams had milestones - theirs was bigger but we knew what to do with ours. Anyhoo, the week itself was typical of a Warriors/Demons week, and despite stuff getting in the way for many of our own (whether it be swine flu, a Pink concert, plasma donating or Thailand), there was still a healthy representation of Coney Islanders at home this week.
The match itself came and went, and for the second week in a row we won the first quarter. Despite requests to the contrary though we lost the last three, albeit by slim margins, to finish the match 11 points in the red to give us our fourth loss in five games this season (and nine losses in our last ten, almost as if we'd played the Dragons ten times in a row). This saw us drop further down the ladder, with only the Bombers between us and ground floor.

The Filth Wizard kicked his first Michelle for the season, Ocha905 (20 disposals/5 tackles) & FootyGuy13 (19 disposals/2 marks) had a bit of it as did oldmate (26 disposals/13 hitouts/3 tackles/1 goal), Mesc (18 disposals/6 marks & keeping the league leading full forward to 2 goals), Dinsdale (15 disposals/6 marks) & Purple7x08_24 (18 disposals/7 marks) kept the Demon forwards honest, Reginald Perrin kicked a couple of goals and Mofra only needed 2 minutes & 31 seconds of game time to kick a goal with his only kick. Stokey could use that accuracy - kicking 0.4 this week to make it 2.11 in his past three games. Harry McKay has a poster of Stokey on his bedroom wall!

Round Six - At Home vs The Bears
Hey Wazzas, come get y'all match review!
The Las Vegans (which as you will have figured by now is Spanish for The Vegans) came to visit in round six. Sitting towards the top of the ladder after featuring in a Grand Final last season, the Bears were up and about and had a pretty well established lineup of internet personalities which made the week fly by. The fact that it started late on
The first 12 minutes of the match would say no, as the visitors kicked the first three goals of the match. We responded in kind and by the end of the first quarter the Vegans were seven points up. That lead extended to 11 at the half and a close defeat looked like it was again on the cards.
Hold the fort!
The third quarter is colloquially known as 'the premiership quarter'. Means nothing to us for obvious reasons, but we did manage to turn the tide of this match by kicking five goals to two in this period of the match, and followed it up with a seven goal to four final stanza to salute to the tune of 23 points in a champagne performance of straight kicking (19.6 to be exact). This was our second win in six matches this season and our second of the past ten, which saw us climb two spots on the ladder.

Round Seven - Away vs The Furies
Hey Wazzas, let's look back to last week.
It was round seven, and we travelled to the hippodrome to play a Furies side sitting at the bottom of the ladder which says danger game. We were also celebrating the milestone of pantskyle becoming the sixteenth Life Member of Coney Island, which shouts danger game. It's a milestone season, which absolutely bellows danger game.
The Furies themselves don't say danger though. They're a good bunch, even the disastrous one.
Speaking of disastrous ones, game day arrived. Cloudy conditions mean big scores, and a five goal to four first quarter in our favour was looking aright early doors. Those doors quickly shut though, as the hosts kicked a further 14 goals for the match to our 8 to see us lose our 8th game in the last 10 by 30 points. This saw us drop back down to 12th on the ladder, but an impending points penalty due the fridge door being left open brings us back a spot.

Others to impress were some of those that were shuffled around the ground including Reginald Perrin (23 disposals/6 marks/2 tackles/1 goal), Paracleet (20 disposals/16 hitouts/1 goal in his second week in a row rucking), Stokey (23 disposals/4 marks/2 tackles) & toxic (23 disposals/5 marks/1 goal). Mofra kicked 4 goals & The Filth Wizard kicked 3, while both Freofalcon (20 disposals/6 marks/4 tackles) & Purple7x08_24 (20 disposals/9 marks) had plenty of it in the half back line.

Round Eight - At Home vs The Wonders
Evening Wazzas, another review to do so let's get into it.
After a brief winning respite the round prior we came home in round eight after losing to the Furies, where we were hosting a Wonders team who despite a revolving door to the captain's lounge seem to enjoy the rub of the simulated green, particularly against us (winning 9 of the last 13 meetings). There wasn't as much argy bargy in the match thread as in previous seasons either, which is partly due to the aforementioned leadership changes and partly due to the state of the league nowadays.
Game day then came and went before anyone noticed. A match was posted and, in a surprise to absolutely nobody, the result saw the visitors come home with a wet sail after three pretty even quarters to finish up 45 points in the black. Because who doesn't love another week of good old fashioned simhousery right?
The 11th loss in our last 13 matches sees us on the same spot on the ladder, with the only thing keeping us off the bottom is the forgetfulness of other captains.
