Need to keep Mims, Sutton and get TP back healthy.

Thats a good starting 3 and TP will be cheaper but very good, Sutton the star and Mims the up can comer.

plus.. draft a 4th Rd guy to add to what we have.

Still pissed about Simmons however. I get the $$ savings but FFS ... Heart and Soul guys carry more than SC hits.

Don't mind the actually trade just wish it was more than a couple of day 3 picks.
Iirc if we'd traded him season the Browns were offering rd 3 & 5 picks, but we held on to him.

Still, I'm not complaining that we got 5 and 6 given his finish to the yr. As LicoriceAllKinds said, he isn't a good player and has a sh** attitude, as well as clearing $13m in cap space. It's a win of a trade.

I don't know what next yrs draft crop is like, but I'm almost leaning toward drafting a QB then. Just because we're in a spot where we aren't going to get a great QB, don't really have the draft stock to trade up to where blue chip guys are. It's a QB hungry draft this yr with lots of teams wanting one. Trading up will be competitive and we'd be giving up most of what we have to do it... and we have lots of needs.

Maybe next year the landscape will be better. I'm starting to think draft to best available this yr, maybe trade back even, then next year load up for a QB. The only issue is I don't have much faith in Stiddy based off what I saw in the last couple games. We lack that bridge QB imo.

Ok I've just had a look at a couple of big boards etc. for next yr and it doesn't seem there's many, if any, A level QB talents next yr. We probably do have to take a QB now which limits options a bit.

I suppose I could see us drafting a QB this yr around 12, whether that's McCarthy, Nix or whomever, and giving them 2 or 3 yrs before drafting a top QB again should they not work out. Obviously that's hopefully not the case, but at least it's a plan ...?

It's looking like that's basically the only plan doable. Only other options now are Wentz or trading for Zach Wilson or something of equal quality. Not exciting.

Looking forward to the time when I don't wake up to notifications on my phone of yet another mock draft telling me what the Broncos are going to do, should do, might do, won't do etc.
Will this draft hurry up and get here lol

I've never quite understood why the draft is so far after the season. I don't know why it isn't early April/late March instead. Could easily be a month earlier, end of April feels like it just drags on.

Teams have even started OTAs by now (of which Sutton has held out) yet the draft is still a week away.

As for the mock draft part - I don't mind mock drafts but as it drags on it gets tiresome. The longer I've followed the NFL the less interested I've been in mocks as I've just learned they're pointless as soon as there's a trade. Blows everyones mocks away as soon as there's a trade or 2 and players are gone.

Teams need time to scout and prepare - free agency only starts on March 13, so having the draft in March would be impossible.

Realistically, all the big time head coaches and coordinators across the league have only finished up evaluating these guys in the last week or so and given their thoughts on their teams respective big board. When the season finishes they are busy reviewing their own team and then going through free agency etc.

That's why I always laugh when people complain about draft stock on players changing drastically between the end of the college season and the draft saying "nothing's changed", well actually it has - the real decision makers on these teams finally got a chance to watch the tape.

I understand there needs to be time, I'm not bemoaning that there's a break, I just feel like it's maybe a few weeks longer than it needs to be. Early Arpil wouldn't change a whole lot. In any case it's not a big problem I have, moreso it's just a nitpick.

I agree, why would anyone be surprised that after interviews, combine, pro days, private training sessions and more review tape by the decision makers that the board changes? Imagine actually thinking that it's odd stuff like that would influence the board.

As an aside, are you still on the Bo Nix train?

I am. I'm not sure why he gets ignored a bit, I don't really see a red flag or issue with him aside from his age. 24 is a bit older than ideal but as far as his play goes he can do it all from what I can see.

I would have Nix as high as 2. I think he's the safest QB in the draft I don't think there's much bust going on there given his lack of sacks, his on-time playstyle being pro+ and solid athleticism. I see his floor as being a middle of the pack starter with his best being somewhat Breesy with more mobility.

I feel like he's become the forgotten man in this group and is generally being accepted as 4th or 5th best and maybe a 2nd round pick. I don't see why but I'll gladly trade back, get more picks and pick him later.
