PORT ADELAIDE is convinced Gold Coast recruit Charlie Dixon was unlucky at training on Monday and is not working on suspect legs after his setback with knee surgery this week.
Dixon’s durability — highlighted by his restricted tally of just 65 AFL games in five seasons at the Suns — immediately came into question on Tuesday night as the Power announced his surprise need for corrective surgery on his left knee.
But Port Adelaide fitness chief Darren Burgess says Dixon took a knock to the left knee while working through the full training regime at Alberton on Monday and did not suffer from a long-standing issue to the joint.
“There was an incident in a mini-contest and Charlie did not know at the time (of the cartilage damage),” Burgess said last night. “He felt it after training.”

There are rules?

Yeh but not as many rules as being in a bike club.....you know, that purported last bastion of freedom

Can't wear skinny jeans or the wrong colour clothes
Must be at the club every church day
Must be on all club runs
Can't associate with this person or that
Can't ride a jap bike
Must do this
Can't do that

Yeh can't imagine BF rules to be as life and freedom restricting as being in a 1% bike club

Live free and do what you want…
As long as it's what we say you can do.

Pretty sure we wont see him in the NAB, but there's a Maggies game that he should participate in before the season begins... :thumbsu:
Oh boy. Can you imagine him at SANFL level? I think defenders would just step out of his way.

Charlie Dixon surgery recovery going smoothly, will help Port Adelaide in ruck and up forward
CHARLIE Dixon is on track to take part in Port Adelaide’s NAB Challenge campaign, with coach Ken Hinkley backing the club’s marquee recruit to step up in the absence of banned ruckman Paddy Ryder.

The tall forward underwent surgery last week to repair an uncomplicated meniscus tear in his left knee, which he sustained during a training session at Alberton.
It was yet another setback for Dixon, who was traded to Port last year after managing just 65 games in five injury-interrupted seasons at Gold Coast. He was consistently hampered by ankle, groin and quad issues, as well as, to a lesser extent, inconsistent form during his stint at the Suns.
“He’s already got no swelling, he’s moving fine, he’s walking around. He’ll actually run, we think, on Monday now and is on track to play some part of the NAB Challenge.

“It’s going really well. I had my first run yesterday (since the surgery) and pulled up really well.

“I’m hoping to be running tomorrow (Friday) in Sydney, which will be good, just running around the track.

“Other than that it’s been going really well. I haven’t had any dramas with it, no soreness and haven’t lost any quad muscle or anything like that.

“I’m hoping to get back for NAB three (the club’s final practice match).
