Big day for the club. Had pretty much every player from the ressies the board and supporters in the room singning the song with the 1's
Might have been a late-ish finish up at the rooms last night too. I was surprised the clubhouse was still standing this morning.

On a side note they auctioned off a jumper numbered 67 and signed by the team for $2500! Amazing what a few beers will do... (67 games since a win for anyone unfamiliar with the club)

any clubs looking for players?? Currently playing in a div 1 team and we have 12 players missing out a week. Pm if clubs are looking.

Good luck to Mark Cullen tomorrow when the Silvan captain plays he's 300 th EFL game against Kilsyth. Fantastic career first at Vermont, 7 flags, senior B&F, Life Member. Then at Silvan, senior B&F, senior captain 2012/13

Remember him & Brad as kids watching their old man Tommy bamboozle sides in the Box Hill Reporter. Very Handy cricketers themselves, in fact just a great sporting family. Thanks Clags just made me feel even older.

Good Luck tommorrow interesting game, keeping Jay Sherlock to an average game will get you home. Easier said than done sometimes.

Loving how Kilsyth is travelling so far in Season 2013.

Well during the silvan game at half time in the seniors there was a altercation between teamates .Incidentally this had caused alot of issues that weren't resolved in house and the reserves coach has been sacked of his duties as coach and player for the 2013 season from the eastern lions football club. I believe with his experience from different levels and 7 years of divi one senior football at the Mitcham football club it's a big loss to the senior list. They will lose that hardness around the contest he brought week in week out lol

Congratulations to South Belgrave on winning their first premiership since 1996!
Bigger congratulations must go to Forest Hill for providing us with an unbelievable game of local footy! To take the might of Sth belly to extra time from 4th place, deserves credit!! Odermatt brillant & BOG, got em over the line. Jumeau, Pilcher & Naulty are serious players for FH

If anyone's looking for a great day out next week (ANZAC DAY) head up to Kinglake and see Brendan Fevola pull on the green and gold jumper. Seniors start at 4pm.
Marquee tickets for $75 - see kinglakefc.com.au for more details.

Media Release -Viva la Fevolution!
For some strange reason it seems that every Kinglake footballer wants to play in the forward pocket this week. It’s not just that they all want to kick a goal, it’s so they can say, ‘I played alongside Brendan Fevola’.
When Fevola agreed to play a one-off game for Kinglake late last year, the Lakers president, Danny Heal, knew the game would attract a large crowd but when the game was scheduled for ANZAC Day he was really pleased. ‘It’s going to be a fantastic day for the club, not just because Fev is playing but also because we have an opportunity to play on such an important day,’ he said.
The club will formally acknowledge ANZAC Day through various observances and has invited local veterans to attend (free of charge) and watch the game from a private marquee.
When asked about how the club managed to recruit Fevola, Heal said, ‘Fev has been a fantastic supporter of the club over many years and it was just one phone call and he was happy to help. He’ll play, obviously, but he’s also taking junior training on the Thursday before the game as well as running a clinic on ANZAC Day.’
Heal’s hoping that the day will help bring people back to the club.
‘There’s a real buzz around the community at the moment and it would be great to see everyone at the club on ANZAC Day.’
‘We want to put on a great show.’
After the game, renowned band Warde Elliot & Tim O’Donnell -‘The Nortons’ will be playing at the clubrooms.
The seniors will kick off at the later time of 4pm on the day.

Canterbury finally winning some games after transferring to VAFA. Is EFL div 4 that much stronger than VAFA D4?

You only have to look at the recent history of 4th divvy premiers and their next season in 3rd Divvy. Every team has jumped straight into 3rd div finals the next year. GWH actually made a GF! If your a strong side in 4th div, chances are your gonna mix it with the strong sides in 3rd div. Same goes with the 3rd Div premier, Nth Ring, & Doncaster this year are showing that. Rowville & Montrose likewise in 1st div. On the other side, the teams that get relegated don't automatically dominated the lower division. We have 4 division's because there's 43 clubs. There are some very very good players running around in 3 & 4 div, many would walk straight into a top 1st div club. Fact is winning premierships is unbelievably hard, so gun teams like Rowville, Montrose, NR, FTG, Mitcham etc dominate their divisions for many years until they finally win a flag. This is why the EFL is the strongest local league across the board.
A recent example is Ash Froud who played 4th div in 2012. Many were predicting Ash would kick 150 goals plus given the drop from 1st div. someone even joked he'd kick 300! Fact is Ash was a clear standout in 4th div, but Ash had been a clear standout in 1st div for many years as well. He won the 1st div 2009 GF off his own boot! He kicked 89 goals in 4th div that year. He still had a defender who didn't want to be beaten, he still had players double team him, he still had coaches trying to shut him down. And of course he still had to kick accurately. In 2013 Ash returned to Vermont and basically tore the comp apart in the first 5 games kicking 29 goals and leading the 1st div goal kicking telly. Injury cut him down but his dominance was unstoppable by all 1st div backman up until he got injured. I've no doubt the strong clubs in EFL 2nd Div would smash any club in 2nd div club in all other comps, NFL, YVMDFL, B Grade Ammos, EDFL WBFL, etc None of em would get close to NR, M,BARK, Croydon, just imagine what Montrose would do to em!
And any 2nd div country league or 3 rd div metro would get smashed by Forest Hill, Park Orchards, FTG too! 4th div still has a slight stigma about being a low standard, nothing could be further from the truth!

How many more times does the VAFA have to beat the EFL before some people at least begrudgingly accept that the VAFA is a pretty bloody good competition.

I would suggest with absolute confidence that the top sides in B grade Ammos would be at least the equal of the top sides in B grade EFL.

How many B Grade VAFA games have you seen?? I'm not here to debate which comp is better as I think its a useless debate, but I will say as someone that gets around to see alot of different leagues, the standards of B Grade and Div 2 EFL are not that much different. Which is better, its in the eye of the beholder.
Comparing B Grade VAFA to the other suburban 2nd tier grades is totally wrong, as both B Grade teams and Div 2 EFL teams would wipe the floor with those teams.
Just for your information, St Kevins play Vermont in a practice match each year and I believe St Kevins won this year. Also, PEGS (C Grade) played Balwyn and lost by 8 goals - not a bad effort by a Div 3 VAFA club against the powerhouse of the EFL. Make of that what you will.

Any club available for a practice match on the 13th or 14th of mArch agaisnt north sunshine div 3 of western region

St Mary's FC (NFL Div 3) looking for a practice match this Saturday 14th. Had one booked in but opposition pulled out yesterday arvo. If interested, Senior Coach Con Borg can be contacted on 0420 909 153.
