I just think some of their opinions are horribly inaccurate. Highlighting his ability increases his value.

Ok wow, maybe my opinion is horribly inaccurate for Brisbane fans to feel this way as well.
Think it was the carlton game in indeginious round last year

"By God we're not letting him go cheap!!
First round pick plus an untouchable at least."

mid to late first round pick. It's the worst time to trade a player after drafting but before they have proven themselves, similar to Jon O'Rourke last year , pick 19 plus some very small change. You could get more, if someone recruiting depart is mad for him. But market value of high first round pick out of contract with no proven AFL form is mid to late first round.

From a Collingwood perspective I'm NOT keen. rather go to the draft (early days depends on our pick and who likely) or trade for a tall. I don't view him as a priority. Our first picks is likely overs (depending on finish which is hard to predict) and our second substainal unders.

You might need to lighten up a bit or avoid dodging the point. Quoting something out of context is bullshit, so here's the full context of what is obviously a joke post:

Despite our best efforts to hide him away, they're onto us.

His form is brilliant and stupendous ....he's Ablett and Carey rolled into one.

By God we're not letting him go cheap!!

First round pick plus an untouchable at least.

My bad, looking back it seems obvious that it wasn't serious. I'm like ford in that I often fail to detect sarcasm failure in my early socialisation. Though I am light about this, am I not dodging anything.

Carlton, Collingwood, Adelaide, or staying with us? Where is he headed?

My money is still on Adelaide, how about you.

Nice if you were right but i just can't see it, he would have signed already. The offer we gave was more than fair.

Can't see him going to Carlton in there current shape, maybe the Pies, Adelaide front runner unless someone can come up with a massive offer to change his mind.

Adelaide. I'm suspicious the Carlton and Collingwood talk is Picken driven to get him to Adelaide with more cash.
Who cares now. He doesn't want to be with us. He looks uninterested and he played accordingly on the weekend. I'd be happy to take Adelaide's first rounder in return.

I'm not complaining, just saying where I think he will end up. The more clubs making offers the better. Hopefully he has a great second half to the year, gets us a good offer and helps us get Charlie.

After hearing Robbo's matter of fact throwaway statement of "like Carlton meeting with Aish" I have no doubts whatsoever that they did.

..and that means we have been lied to by a player and his manager.

If I'm wrong I'll apologise profusely to all and sundry........but if I'm right in that belief, then kick the sod OUT to Siberia for all I care! ..and never take a player managed by Pickering ever again.

*Robbo was talking about the rights/wrongs of whether clubs should talk to players etc in light of Hardwicks walkout over the Rance questioning.

Overreaction

Overreaction?? that's your opinion.

If he has lied to the club about meeting with Carlton on the GC, then no its not. I can't stand liars, they can't be trusted.

If all is above board, then I will take back all I've said on this issue.

...but atm from the outside looking in, it looks like he and his manager are holding the club to ransom. I don't like that.

Aish himself could very easily tell his manager to back off, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Yes and no.

You choose Pickering to be your manager because you want the best Footy deal's possible throughout your career. It would be apart of his sales pitch to bring them on.

He is ruthless in generating interest, uncertainty and speculation around his players.

If it was a 50/50 call on two players... And one was with Pickering and one wasn't..... I'd draft the one that wasn't.

I hope Aish goes. It doesn't look like we'll get the best out of him..... Like Polec.

Let's take a first round pick for him (if we're lucky) and grab another exciting talent who buys in and loves the Lions like Rocky, Taylor, Robertson, McStay, Gardiner etc.

With Trigg saying to Malthouse we had Betts stitched up 18 months before he came or whatever the terminology used was, wouldn't be surprised if the same has happened with Aish. A few posters on their board have said that the deal for Aish to come back to Adelaide was done ages ago. Didn't think anything of it at the time but after recent comments by Malthouse, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's the case.

I wouldn't trust Pickering, but we're not paying him. He's like a lawyer - paid to represent his client's interests and his client's interests only. I can't see any use getting all handwringy because a manager said what suited him.

I don't like that, but plenty of occupations involve withholding, misrepresenting or creatively retelling the truth. That's kinda crappy but it's the job.

Like real estate agents and car salesmen, you listen to what they say, but let go of any expectation of reliable truth.

I do anyway.

Under whelming reaction?

Regardless I think Leppa insinuated in his radio interview on sen last Friday that Pickering has put his reputation on the line " no Carlton meeting"
If that eventually comes out the opposite had occurred I can see a fair bit of negative damage for his clients future deals.

I wonder if the AFC are found guilty if they are stripped of draft picks or trading this season...
