Until there is a better venue than the G then I have no issue with it staying there and day final regardless of the travel factor for my team.

Easy blue balls, this 'debate' is not legally binding. The idea of this thread came from Koch's idea of sharing Grand Finals. Read the OP you ****.Why on earth is this debate happening?
All you interstate knobheads make me laugh.
UEFA can do it because of the geography of Europe - it's many countries playing from different leagues. Plus billions watch it and travelling to each stadium is relatively easy due to the infrastructure, transportation which is already in place at and around the stadium anyway. Travelling to Perth for example would be an absolute nightmare given public transport demands as well as the airport isn't set up to cater for it.Last night, David Koch proposed the idea of getting the AFL to host the Grand Final match around the nation rather than the MCG alone. Same system the NFL and UEFA uses.
What are your thoughts?
Unless you live in Melbourne you have to pay $3000 to get to see a gf. Not a good promotion of Australia's game. Sydney will host one by 2025 IMO
And would 2015 be fair if the grand final is West Coast vs Fremantle at Melbourne?
Say what? How many millions are we spending for max 3 capacity games a year? And what's stopping the AFL flogging a further 20,000 corporate tickets? If the Grand Final was held interstate it would allow the Great Southern Stand to be rebuilt again to be inline with the Olympic Stand. Capacity would be 120,000 and those extra 20,000 would be GA.

MCG's current capacity is absolutely fine.
Why? Don't see how they are related at all other than the stupid notion of 'tradition'. One has to do with the home side getting the right to play the GF at their home ground. The other has to do with not wanting to stay up until 7:30 to watch a game of footy. I'm failing to see the logic.Everyone who wants this stupid idea, but DOES NOT want a night grand final is a hypocrite
Everyone in that thread ignored the infinetly better and preffered option of a night grand final because "we don't need to change tradition"Why? That said, as long as every state has a 65k+ stadium, I don't see why it shouldn't be moved from state to state. Having it at night doesn't bother me either to be 100% honest.
Tradition is a load of BS anywayEveryone in that thread ignored the infinetly better and preffered option of a night grand final because "we don't need to change tradition"

It would also allow the waiting list for the MCC to be shortened as wellIf the Grand Final was held interstate it would allow the Great Southern Stand to be rebuilt again to be inline with the Olympic Stand. Capacity would be 120,000 and those extra 20,000 would be GA.
I'd fully support the GF being permanently stationed at the MCG if it meant fans had a realistic chance of getting tickets. Otherwise carousel. It would also allow the waiting list for the MCC to be shortened as well
lol in theory nice idea fans getting a ticketI'd fully support the GF being permanently stationed at the MCG if it meant fans had a realistic chance of getting tickets. Otherwise carousel.
