Never completely happy with the Westgate issue.
it’ll be some lead in labor’s saddlebags but hopefully worse for transurban, who are the evil empire

In a political sense, it can't be worse for TransUrban because no one needs to vote for them.

Werribee was fertile ground for the Liberals in the mid-1990s until the waste dump was planned. It also moved (short-term) pretty hard in 2017 when the Juvenile Justice centre was going to be put close to the town. Werribee went from 65.7/34.3 ALP v LIB 2PP in 2014 to 58.8/41.2 ALP v IND 2CP in 2018 (the ALP v LIB swing was -3.1%, when the statewide swing was 5.3% the other way). So Pallas may have a problem if this issue cannot be resolved.

Can't blame Andrews for the mess that is Melbourne traffic. It's been 50 years of bad planning, neglect of public transport (seriously, how did the level crossings last this long?) short sighted focus on car infrastructure and the ensuing urban sprawl... Then you have the fact that Melbourne's population is growing at an insane rate and this is largely because of lazy, myopic immigration policy on behalf of the Federal government that was largely kick-started under Howard.

Just building more freeways and roads has been disastrous for the quality of life in this city, traffic engineers and town planners knew about induced demand since the 60s but were not listened to. We turned what was previously a well structured, European inspired city into something resembling Los Angeles very quickly.

Werribee will.never fall to the LNP(even if they start coming up with policies outside of law anf order) they are losing traditional voters who have seen the area destroyed by over population and due to the crims are the real victims approach to crime under Dear Leader Dan but those traditional voters are being replaced by the Sudanese who are growing quickly in numbers and will vote ALP.

Yep Werribee is THE Location for 'new australians' from everywhere, but the sudanese will make the difference

So how would you stop people moving to Melbourne?

Melbourne will get a headline similar to this in Sydney this weekend:

The nuffies that can also see things through their political googles will be outraged (very cheap these days)
BUT
the non aligned voters will accept that improvements will cost.

Both Federal and State governments benefit from high immigration with claims of higher GDP and election claims of being able to spend more on infrastructure.

But it's the people of Victoria who have to live with the reductions in quality of life due to massive traffic congestion and overcrowding on public transport. Andrews claims he is neutral on population yet at COAG he opposes any restrictions. He's a two faced campaigner.

And state governments in running down the public servce have disarmed themselves in negotiations with private infrastructure companies.

it’s probably intentional as political donations etc. infrastructure firms had as much to do with removing Napthine Bailey as anyone

The building industry is a major contributor to the Sydney/Melb economy, what will replace it when the down turn comes?

There will be no down turn as immigration have to be kept at stoopid high levels to maintain this ponzi scheme.

The Federal and State governments benefit from high immigration, as does business. It detracts from our quality of life but the mainstream politicians don't give a s**t. Then the media wonders why there's an over reaction towards the far right.

The problem is most visible in Sydney & Melbourne.

I read somewhere the fact that feb has 29 days this year saved the (fed) govt growth figures from going negative. Or was that the budget, can’t remember

I've never seen such stupidity in one post. Standard blame the immigrants post from the same user time and time again.

Never mind that a number of booths in Tarneit had strong swings to the LNP at the last federal poll.

Indians tend to be quite conservative. They are family oriented, law abiding, not into trades unions, prefer tradition over newer woke thinking.

I've seen Indians who are settled here oppose high immigration levels but I can't say if that's a general trend.

We tend to think of areas as homogenous; I spend a lot of time in Werribee for work and while it is by and large a working class area still there is some real wealth developing. Federally it is very safe ALP which means it is neglected by both sides of politics unlike an area like Geelong which can’t sneeze without getting money from government.

Still a long way off funding for our Yacht Marina. Once that happens though the elite will move to Corio in plagues

The older areas of Werribee are quite diverse. Older Australian born, Italian, Serb, Croat, Vietnamese. The newer suburbs of Wyndham Vale and Tarneit are a mix of mostly Asians but predominantly Indian immigrants. It will be interesting to see how the voting patterns change. The population increase in that area might require adjustments by the AEC.

Unfortunately I may have to vote out my one and only true hero. Public jobs aren't going to white males (to the point the most experienced can't find work). Appears strict orders from the top are to only hire women and minorities.

And 'older' appears to have quietly been dropped from the diversity mantra - male or female, ethnic or not
