Given the shootout we have on our hand tonight I'd like to know what the highest scoring AFL final has been (pre and post 1990). Can't remember the last time I've seen a finals game like this one.

For the sake of completeness, in the six seasons 1995-2000 there were four such finals. In the last 15 seasons there have now been 4 finals where both teams scored a century. In the 15 seasons 1980-1994 there were 19 finals where both teams scored 100 points or more.
The last time two teams scored over 100 points in a final was EF 2009 - Bris 111 def Carlton 104
Why is it damning? That is a damning statistic if ever I've seen one.
That Carlton were in the finals and scoring over 100 pts.Why is it damning?
That was 2009. Carlton last kicked 100+ in a final only two years ago. That Carlton were in the finals and scoring over 100 pts.
That Carlton were in the finals and scoring over 100 pts.
^Think I remember seeing a video where John Nicholls spoke of stacking his forward line with big goalkickers and going full out attack on Richmond in the '72 Grand Final after the 8.13 (61) draw at Waverley in the semis.
Jezza kicked a big bag and Walls and Big Nick kicked 6 each from memory on grand final day.
No need to work from memory - its all here:
