Highest Scoring AFL Finals Game

Given the shootout we have on our hand tonight I'd like to know what the highest scoring AFL final has been (pre and post 1990). Can't remember the last time I've seen a finals game like this one.

Two high scoring Grand finals I know of.

1972 GF - Carlton 177 def Richmond 150
1989 GF - Hawthorn 144 def Geelong 138

The last time two teams scored over 100 points in a final was EF 2009 - Bris 111 def Carlton 104

Highest score I can find since 1990 is QF 2000 - Ess 198 def Nth 73

I reckon it only looked a shoot out in comparison with the strangle fest in Perth.
Not really a shoot out as such. Just a good entertaining close final.

Of all the scores from 31 and upwards, the next score not yet kicked by a team in a final is 142, followed by 146 and 147. Every number in the 150s has been scored by a team in a final.
Of all the winning margins from one point and upwards, the next margin not yet achieved in a final is 72. Of all other margins less than 100, the remaining margins not yet achieved in a final are 85, 90, 91, 92, 95 and 98.

That Carlton were in the finals and scoring over 100 pts.

Betts and Waite played for Carlton about then. They were part of finishing off Richmond two years ago too.
Nick Duigan kicked 4 goals against Richmond in that Elimination final too.
Carlton had a dangerous forward line before Malthouse turned up. Now we got no forward line at all and developing defenders like Laidler and Duigan Malthouse never liked too. Be a long time before I forgive Carlton fans that were bagging Ratten and asking for Malthouse. Clueless clowns.

Back on topic though I think high scoring finals were the norm for most of 1980's. Dogs v Crows last week reminded me of a typical final from that time.
Interesting to look back on score of Richmond v Carlton 1972 Second Semi-Final that was a draw. Would love to be a fly on wall in Carlton in those weeks between that final and the eventual record scoring grand final. Quite amazing the difference in scoring. There must have been a distinct change in forward line attack strategy during a finals campaign and gutsy call whomever made it back then.

^Think I remember seeing a video where John Nicholls spoke of stacking his forward line with big goalkickers and going full out attack on Richmond in the '72 Grand Final after the 8.13 (61) draw at Waverley in the semis.
Jezza kicked a big bag and Walls and Big Nick kicked 6 each from memory on grand final day.
