Unofficial Preview Interstater's Survival Guide to Adelaide - [Finals Edition]

Hope you don't mind me intruding!

Couple of tips:

The setting sun WILL be in your eyes if you sit on the Eastern side. Either get in early or don't forget to pack your sunnies.

Accommodation in North Adelaide/CBD is perfect. Unfortunately I can't offer you any specific suggestions, but there are a lot of small boutique hotels around Hindley Street, North Terrace and North Adelaide and the CBD in general (with varying quality!)

Depending where you stay, you can go get an early lunch and walk to the oval. Public transport is all free to the footy. Lots of good places to eat in the CBD/ North Adelaide.

It is going to be bloody packed, which seems pretty obvious, but it will probably be the biggest official AFL crowd we've ever had so be prepared. I'll probably be getting there about two hours early because of GA seating.

If you're looking for things to do while you're over here and want to keep it simple, try the Adelaide Central Market and China Town near Victoria Square for amazing food and experience (open til 9pm on Friday night and 3.30pm on Saturday, but not Sunday), Rundle Mall and Street for shopping, and the Botanic Gardens if there is nice weather, all in the CBD.

Goodluck!

Re- Hindley St. Don't stay there on Saturday night if you're bringing your family, seriously. The place is a cesspit of debauchery and violence. If you're a group of 20-something year old lads then my suggestion would be Hindley St.

Seriously though, most coming over are probably just going to come for Saturday night? I'd stay somewhere in the city so the game is walking distance. Not good on names of hotels but there'll be plenty. Somewhere near our casino would be ideal.

Best bet is to eat in North Adelaide or the Strathmore does a stonegrill cook it yourself, it's opposite the casino, but gets packed when footy is on.

Is the crazy horse still open;)

In Sydney this weekend and have booked Adelaide next weekend problem is I'm a 16 consecutive years afl Richmond member and my mate is only an 11 game member , can someone help me out getting tickets please any advice would be appreciated

Club members can purchase them through Ticketek between 9 am and 1 pm (venue local time) Monday.
If you`re in Melbourne I guess that means between 9.30 am and 1.30 pm as we are half an hour ahead of Adelaide time.

You`ll need to type in the numbers from your barcode on your membership card.

Hey guys, I am planning to head to the game with a mate (tigers supporter), however he is not a member and I only have collingwood AFL memberships.
I saw on the AFL website that AFL members are not given an allocation at Adelaide Oval, only club supporting members are (and then a few hours later general public tickets are released).
We don't want to book airfares without knowing that we can secure tickets, is anyone able to provide me with any information? What are the chances this game will sell out before general public tickets are released? Also if anyone has two spare Richmond membership numbers and are not making the trip to the game that would also be appreciated (or would buy us tickets with Richmond memberships and then sell us the tickets?)...

Thanks and go Tiges!!

If you wanted to make a long weekend out of it Adelaide's a great place to go with your partner. The wineries/B&B's are awesome. Drinking great wine, eating great food and shagging your partner senseless for a couple of days after we make it 10 in a row is a great way to relax:D:p

I'd consider going, but my fiancée would have other ideas lol plus gotta save up for my wedding (on Grand Final day), wish I could go though, be like witnessing a Grand Final in some aspects.

I live in Adelaide fellow Tiger Army guys and its now a great place to see the footy, the only thing you have to make sure of if your out of the city a bit with accomodation is that the place is near a train station as the trains now come right to the stadium, a blind man who lost his dog and cane could find the footy from the train station now. Dont listen to the local Adelaide people either, Adelaide is damn friendly compared to Melbourne and Sydney and is quite well policed. Basic common sense rules apply here only "dont be a mug and you will have a good day here at the footy". Hope you all make it here in numbers so we can show the port supporters what a real club army looks like :)

We decided the date last year, with how unpredictable Richmond is, who knew come Round 23 we would be playing finals lol.

Oh trust me, if Richmond make it that far, there will be a TV going or radio somewhere at the wedding.. Because there is no chance of missing out on that..
