Re: Jonathan Brown

To poll that well in the midfielders medal is outstanding. The question is how many votes would he have got if our delivery to him was half decent?

And his interview was pure class. Just the most natural bloke around. Don't give a fig about the AA captaincy, we got Browney.

Re: Jonathan Brown

An article talking about how Brown and Fev will work together, and comparing how well other key forwards have worked together in the past.

Brownless believes Brown will have to push up the ground to make it work for Brisbane. "Fevola and Brown both love kicking goals," he said.
"What will happen is the players up the field like Black, Power and Rich will kick it to who they notice first.
"And that just might be Fevola given his speed off the mark ... it will be interesting."

Previously I had thought Brown would move closer and closer to goal as he gets older, with Henderson taking over at centre half forward. But it would now seem that he will play out his career at CHF.

Brown rated the 4th best player of the decade

Brown is the best forward of the decade. Brown's three premierships as centre half-forward are on the honour board, and leadership and aura sit comfortably on his large shoulders.
Probably no one possesses the presence this bloke has.

1. Michael Voss
2. James Hird
3. Chris Judd
4. Jonathan Brown

Re: Jonathan Brown

Some family history

George and Maria Gooden (great, great grandparents of both Luke Ball and Nathan Buckley) produced a son, John, who married into another famous Western Districts family, the Gleesons, and his brother-in-law, James Gleeson, started a family that was to eventually produce yet another big AFL name in Jonathan Brown, son of former Fitzroy star Brian Brown. That the Brisbane Lions skipper never got to wear the famous black and white stripes will forever remain a case of what might have been for Collingwood Football Club (it certainly tried hard enough) but at least it has been able to secure distant cousins Buckley and Ball.
