South Africans are using it to go into bat for Tim Noakes.
"The global financial services firm says saturated fat is good for you and it expects red meat‚ butter and egg consumption in Europe and American to soar in the future.
Its 76-page report also suggests dairy‚ butter and beef may make good investments.
The report‚ titled Fat:the New Health Paradigm‚ predicts carbohydrate consumption may drop by 2% globally over the next 15 years. Butter consumption will increase in America as “negative perceptions linked to saturated fat gradually disappear” and margarine sales are expected to plummet.
People in America will be eating more eggs: 350 per capita per year (almost one a day)‚ rather the 235 currently‚ the research predicts.
The report also blames carbs and vegetable oils for lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.
"The higher intake of vegetable oils and the increase in carbohydrate consumption in the last 30 to 40 years are the two leading factors behind the high rates of obesity and metabolic syndrome in the US. Saturated and monounsaturated fats are not".
