I was wondering why I hadn't been leaving threads in White hot rage at people's stupidity recently, this explains everything

But I have noticed a lot of threads getting off topic recently. A theory is that a thread starts off strongly, but then reaches a consensus of sorts and there is not that much more to add so it then easily gets derailed.
Perhaps posters like THATSGOLD chiming in with their negative comments in a thread refocuses others on the topic and "re-energises" the debate so to speak. This is not condoning some of the behaviour like negative posts in a Maxy 200th game toast, but it isn't as far-fetched as it might sound. And yes I realise I am continuing to derail this thread
