Couldn't find this from searching so...

Since the team you support is a drop down box, surely it couldn't be that hard to have figures somewhere that show how many people are supporting each team on this site.

If this already exists then some arrows or something are requested so it can be found.

Sounds good. Not sure how it would be done, though.

You'd open the list of all users on the site, open it in notepad or something. Find a replace all team names from "Essendon" to .Essendon." or something similar for every team, so that people with names, email addresses or usernames with teams in it wouldn't be counted twice. The symbol used shouldn't be allowed in people's usernames, so that you don't get some usernames in the column with the rest of the names. Import the txt document into excel, with spacing determined by the symbol you used around the names of all the teams, so if you used fullstop, use full stop. Then every team would be in one column. Delete all the other columns, and Ctrl + F, then search for each team's name. The number of results is the number of supporters on each team. You could also sort the list alphabetically, then find where Adelaide ends, where Brisbane ends etc. You could also sort a 'last activity' column by date, so you could see all the active users in the past year or so, delete everything after this date, and find how many active users support each team. As a manual way, that works. Automatically, if you used made an Access query for Team_supported or whatever variable its called, you could have this projected onto a table on the site live, so something similar. Only possible because this uses a dropdown, not a free entry box.

I can do a search in the admin area, no worries. No need to mess with spreadsheets.

For instance, there are 12140 BF members with Essendon listed as their club.

I just don't know how we would have that figure automatically extracted and updated, say, once a day.

you could simply update it like once a month, surely though it's just another variable like the total posts and total users displayed on the side of the forum homepage?

Current Figures are:

adelaide 17830
brisbane 4947
carlton 11353
collingwood 13983
essendon 12137
fremantle 4701
geelong 8429
gold coast 1919
hawthorn 9738
melbourne 5075
north melbourne 6621
port adelaide 3699
richmond 8462
st kilda 5593
sydney 5324
western bulldogs 5455
western sydney 1241
west coast 7006

However this includes banned users etc. Also Adelaide is much larger than you would expect, which I think is down to them starting with 'A' more than anything else

Would be cool to put a random club at the top of the list on each rego page. Spread those ghost supporters around.

How many still no club listed? Ive seen 2 i think, ones rogers results the others some fitzroy suppotrter. Any more active users than that?

I wonder how many posters there are in that lot with no, or only a few posts.
