Port Adelaide will play Norwood at the Adelaide Oval in Round 4

PORT Adelaide will host Norwood in the traditional grand final rematch for the 2015 SANFL IGA League season. The SANFL's new League fixture was released overnight, with Port Adelaide to now have a unique opportunity to commemorate the centenary of the ANZACs at the Adelaide Oval on two consecutive days.

The weekend will get under way with Port Adelaide hosting 2014 premier Norwood under lights at the Oval on Friday 24 April, with the club to then play Hawthorn on ANZAC night the following day. The match will act as a normal Port Adelaide home game, with full-season or home game Magpies membership holders able to access the game as part of their normal entitlements.

Port Adelaide will have a bye on the opening weekend of the season, which gets under way on Friday 3 April. The club's first game will be away to South Adelaide at Noarlunga. Garry Hocking's side will then play four consecutive home games - North Adelaide for a lunchtime game at Alberton, the ANZAC Eve match against the Redlegs, and the Eagles and Sturt on the first two weekends of May.

It will then travel to Balaklava - about 75 minutes north of the CBD - to play the Adelaide Crows state league team on Sunday 17 May.

The Magpies will host the Crows at Alberton on the AFL bye weekend - setting the scene for another bumper 6,000+ crowd again this year at 2:10pm on Sunday 28 June.

Four away games will then challenge Port Adelaide when it hits the road to play North, Norwood, Woodville-West Torrens and Sturt in a carbon copy of its four-peat of home games earlier in the year.
Glenelg will host Port Adelaide in a Friday night game at the Bay on Friday 14 August before the Magpies play South and West in the final two games of the minor round at Alberton.

Key points
  • Six of the Magpies' games will be broadcast on Seven.
  • Four consecutive home games between Rounds 3 and 6 against North, Norwood, Eagles and Sturt; away to the game four teams between Rounds 12 and 15.
  • Three bye weekends including Round 1 and split rounds 10 and 17.
  • Port Adelaide will host Norwood on ANZAC Eve under lights in Round 4, after the Redlegs requested a change to the hosting rights for the game.
  • The Magpies' Alberton games against Sturt and against Glenelg correspond to Multicultural and Women's rounds.
  • The Power plays away for both Indigenous (Round 13 v Norwood) and Charity Round (Round 15 v Sturt).
  • One clash day for the club's SANFL/AFL fixtures in Round 3 when the Magpies play North at home, and the Power play North in a Melbourne night game.
  • The Power plays the Lions away when the Magpies play the Crows away in Round 7.
  • The Crows host the first derby of the year (in Round 7), while the Magpies are home for the re-match (in Round 11)
  • Unconfirmed venue for away game against West Adelaide in Round 10.

Port Adelaide's first game comes after the week one bye. It's the longest road trip for the Magpies straight up and the Panthers having played exceptional AFL-esque football throughout season 2014. Garry Hocking's troops will need to be on their guard, South will be out to make amends after the Magpies clambered all over them in the second half of last season's prelim final.

Taking on North Adelaide at Alberton in its first home game of the year, the Magpies will be keen to get things going well at home. It's an early start, giving Port fans staying in Adelaide plenty of time to see the club's AFL game against the Victorian North on telly that night.

ANZAC Day eve at the Adelaide Oval will give all Port Adelaide members the chance to go to a 'home' night game, with all the usual member access entitlements as for an Alberton match. This Friday night game under lights is the perfect opportunity for the Magpies to get the Redlegs back for the defeat in the 2014 grand final as part of a bumper two days of Port footy at the Oval.

The Magpies' fourth consecutive game at home is against Sturt - a team it defeated twice in 2014 - and as one of the leading teams of the competition this sizes up as one of Port's biggest Alberton challenges. This also doubles as Multicultural Round.

The Magpies' final home game for the first half of the season is against old rivals Glenelg. Played as part of Womens' Round, this game will carry a little extra significance for Port Adelaide, being the first time it plays Glenelg in the 25th celebration year of its premiership threepeat [1988-1989-1990] two of those coming over the Bays.

More than 6,000 (predominantly Port supporters) turned out to see this game in 2014 and as a standalone Port Adelaide game for the weekend, there's a very good chance a similar turnout will happen again. The Magpies will want to keep the blemishless ledger at Alberton going.

Port starts its streak of four games away from home with this bout against the Roosters at Prospect. The Magpies have been a bit up and down against North in recent times, particularly at Prospect, but last year's strong performance despite two knee injuries was a crucial result in the context of its season. Starting its month on the road well will be important.

Norwood hosts Port Adelaide in the traditional battle of the SANFL heavyweights at The Parade. The home of the Redlegs is one of few places where the Magpies have a longer losing ledger than a winning one, and the reigning premiers play their small ground well. Norwood will be strong again this year and a win here will be critical for Port Adelaide - hopefully not just for bragging rights, but for ladder position as well.

The Eagles are a win up on Port at Woodville Oval and as the season wears down, the traditional finals performer will be keen to win this local derby on home turf. Hocking's men will need to be on top of their game.

Charity Round, and this game against the Double Blues ends the month-long 'road' sequence for Port Adelaide. The Magpies won a tight battle for top spot at Unley last season and given the way Seamus Maloney has recruited over the past few years, there could be a little extra spice in this game between the two old rivals.

Port hosts the Bulldogs at Alberton in its final match before the split round bye. A win, for that reason, at least, will be as important as ever. Interestingly, more than half of the Magpies' losses to Central at Alberton have come in the past decade.

This will be a popular game with Port Adelaide fans - another Friday night fixture down at the popular Glenelg beach spot. After the bitter-sweet loss to the Bays while clinching the minor premiership last year, the Magpies will be out to win in their final minor round away game of 2015.

Peculiar.
Found it on SANFL web site late morning including Reserves fixtures, but about an hour later it had disappeared

Maybe SNAFL did not want the 'Tiser Saturday unveiling to be compromised by an early release, but a staffer accidentally put it on their Fixtures tab before someone else discovered the error?

So 8 home matches including one at AO.
Playing Anzac eve meant we lost one home game - small price to pay.
Tough draw in places - guess we'll see how we go.

Is 12-10 start so Buddha can get to Melbourne in time - or is that a typo?

How many teams have a bye in Rd 1? Its an even team comp so why a bye?

Great that the GF replay is Friday night at AO - but still reckon they could have got it done on ANZAC Day itself - ie a double header.

12:10pm is correct.

6 teams have a bye in Round 1. The 4 teams that play in Round 1 won't play in Round 14.

- Jake Johansen officially signed with Glenelg tonight.
Reason, lack of potential league game time. This was a very hard decision for him, & has the full backing of the family.

Is he getting more than $400 a week?

If so, then it's impossible for us to keep anyone decent unless we make them captain.
We will have to get used to these raids every year now.

Purely lack of potential League Game Time , by the maths it looked liked 5-6 games in the league, rest in Adcadamy, for someone wanting to play at highest level it doesn't seem like enough exposure, again very very difficult decision

i said in the draft thread that i hope he goes to another sanfl club and not get stuck at the career death trap that our club has been forced to become but geez this makes me sick. glenelg, of all scum clubs. understand why he left though, we should have rookie listed him.
