SEASON 2024

Can confirm that Narre have lodged with OEFNL their intention to leave. Want to go to SFNL. Heard nothing as to if talks have been held with SFNL as yet....

I’d sign it off now and let them go. Why try and keep someone who doesn’t want to stay? Makes no sense. Now proactively plan and then communicate the plan with those who are committed to staying versus waiting until March or worse communicate in R2 the promotion/relegation system.

Are there any genuine rivalries in the league anymore?
The one I remember most is healesville and woori, always was a tough hard game and the supporters some both sides brought into the atmosphere. Sadly with H'ville not being competitive last few years it hasn't happened.

Happy to hear of any other big rivalries past or present!

Woori v Wandin
Emerald v Gembrook
Belgrave v Upwey
Wandin v Seville past
Yarra Junction v Powelltown

I apologise on behalf of our club to you.
It is nothing but a disgrace even more so as we knew it was happening on Wednesday night.
The communication from our committee down is nothing but a joke.we have given it a shot and I can only feel there will be more forfeits in the coming weeks if he keeps ripping into us players.
We had told him weeks ago we are going to struggle as we obviously don’t have the cattle. But the recruitment team have let us players down more as they keep telling us players are coming but yet to see them so we have hope then like Wednesday night we get shot down.
The outer east really should of done checks on our registered players as at least half a dozen have been cleared to other clubs and most won’t even play.
So, to get this straight - you (Itchy) wanted to play? And others did as well? And the committee canned it?

From my limited experience, the best way to influence a committee is to be on it! Are you? I feel like you're every clubs worst nightmare - the one running around complaining, but never doing anything to change it or help. Did you go and support your netballers?
Or just happy to sit back and bag your club, yet again, but not help in any way?

Now onto other League news..... and go!

I have been on the committee in the past but haven’t like the last few years how the club has been run and knew this would be the situation.
Was more than happy to go play but the team we were putting out the was one of the worst I’ve seen. But in saying that the committee wanted us players to make the call on whether we went there or not. So the majority voted no so we didn’t play as we knew we would get flogged by over 300.
The communication coming from the committee we got told everything was off then seen a facebook post Saturday morning when they we’re already playing so if I hadve known yes I would’ve gone and paid tribute to Alex and what they had organised for Anzac Day

Again, for clarification, are you saying the committee was well aware of this decision by the players? They knew beforehand? Or did the players/ coaches make the decision and then inform the committee of the majority decision?
It seems very weird to me that any committee would agree to such a thing.

When all is said and done the league will probably end up looking like it use to, just with a bunch of clubs ****ed around for close to a decade due to the incompetence of those in charge.

Mate footy in the outer south east is a disease. I call it a disease because it keeps spreading and infecting all those around it.

There has been zero leadership shown by anybody and it is getting on toward 20 years that it's been a mess, when it's been clear that leadership and planning has been needed in an area of rapid growth and urbanisation.

It infected the MPNFL and they literally cut it out and tossed it.

They formed their own SEFNL but again there was zero planning or leadership. Just the teams tossed together. No thought of growth. No thought of badly needed new clubs - no none of the existing clubs could survive without 100k population and four junior clubs each. Of course it died quickly.

Tooradin got out to the WGFNL but you can be assured they have well and truly put the walls up and want nothing to do with any of the other SE clubs.

It infected the YVMDFL, we all know what has happened there.

It's infected the SFNL, looks like Narre are going there, Cranbourne already are... that could be a solution, but who knows - after saying they had finally found their long-term home in the SFNL and aren't going to be wasting their time with MPFNL again... 12 months later they are applying to join the MPFNL!! And they're knocked back, of course.

It's reached the EFNL... the stupid inclusion of Berwick and Beaconsfield, miles and miles out of their territory. Berwick are now unbelievably a problem club, uncompetitive and struggling for numbers. The inclusions also meant there was no promotions last year, so Boronia are playing way below their station and have destroyed a division for a year.

It's just nuts... and should be a booming area. Somehow it's the opposite.

One of your netballers commented on Facebook she didn’t even know they were definitely playing until Friday night.

Boronia have won 2 premierships in the past 5 years Bunk and have not been promoted either year due to Berwick and then Beaconsfield being admitted to the EFNL which has been a terrible decision for a multitude of reasons.

Boronia are playing well below their level of ability and would be in the top half of division 1 clubs. They are financially strong, have excellent support and just need to put together an unders team (which will occur in 2025) and we could see them again become a league powerhouse. The work those have done at the club has been unbelievable but they have been a victim of some bad decisions to admit two clubs that should never have come into the league.

EFNL clubs have nothing in common with either club and now Berwick are in trouble with player numbers being very low and the relationship with the netball club being non existent which has seen many players and their partners move to other clubs or walk away from the game.

I think the admittance of both clubs into the league will be something that will be regretted by the league and those involved in the decision as time passes. It was a ‘knee jerk’ decision made with little foresight of the ramifications and a long term view in regards to the league and football in the south east corridor which is probably now in worse shape due to clubs now being in various leagues which has seen long standing rivalries disappear, revenue streams evaporate due to the absence of local derbies and many people walking away from the game.

I have heard from a number of sources that the club Pres is very much a "my way or the highway" man. Think you'll find that a number of club people are treading on eggshells and trying to avoid putting a target on their backs. Itchy isn't the sort of guy who makes stuff up and if the above is true, very poor form by the committee (Pres) to make the players look like the bad guys. They certainly made Jugga look the villain.

Players voted not to go is what we heard. Absolutely no confidence in whats coming out of there.

My eyes hurt after reading this.

We could all see how this was going to play out 3 years ago

Great effort do you have juniors?
Didn't from 2017 till 2022. We switched focus when players left to really focus on the juniors. We were quite lucky getting a bunch of really talented 16 year olds to reform an under 18s with 12 players having had a family connnection prior. then have also been developing an under 15's side to make that sustainable. and have grown that further with the additon of under 12s this year and record Auskick

If nothing else I think the EFNL clubs have finally woken up to this crap and won't be so willing to admit new clubs in the future. The league is now too big - 5 divisions is ridiculous - and there are clubs like Berwick, Beaconsfield and the likes of Silvan which are nowhere near the EFNL region yet are in the league.

A number of clubs couldn't field 22 reserves players on the weekend, and it's Round 3 ffs. Berwick had 21 incl a few of dad's army, Norwood had 19 incl a number who backed up from the U19s. Some of the Reserves scores are alarming.

I think this is the fix but it needs a review and leadership and i doubt either will happen

I think Coldstream and Lilydale would be good inclusions to the YVMDFL too.

Its a little relative to where your club is based. Lilydale is really close to Montrose, Silvan, Chirnside, Mooroolbark, Croydon etc. It would be a better fit for them in the EFNL i think.

Silvan have flipped a few times from the 2 leagues. Sth Belgrave are EFNL while Belgrave are Outer. I think clubs like UFTG woud enjoy playing Upwey and Belgrave. But also enjoy playing FTG, Fairpark, Knox Wantirna Sth etc

Coldstream is a better argument all their local clubs are pretty much YV but who would want to change?

Ive always found the northern clubs out of place such as Templestowe, Donvale, Warrandyte, Doncaster etc but their argument would be they are close to Ringwood, Mitcham, Blackburn etc

all south of the yarra which is pretty much the divider between eastern and northern leagues

They’re entrenched in the east now I think.

Personally I think they should be in southern but who would know if that will ever happen, I doubt it.

Apparently Narre are going Southern. I can see Berwick wanting something else if the current malaise continues much longer, the EFNL has been a bit of a disaster for them.
