Conditions were warm for this Clash and it would prove testing for all Players.
The first quarter provided a wonderful example of tight unrelenting Qooty between the two teams. There were evenly matched contests with the Qooty pinging between the two half back lines.
Las Vegas veteran Test Tickle opened proceedings with a sharp goal. Roys' spearhead Zevon soon replied. Slick work between Bears evergreens Art Vandelay and JoshWoodenSpoon resulted in the Bears' second, providing some reward for their team's efforts. A goal to Cap at the midway point saw the Bears open a handy 14 point break.
Facing a real challenge the reigning Premiers knuckled down and fought back with a critical goal to Mike and another from Wosh. At 'Oranges' the Bears led by the smallest of margins.
The war of attrition continued in the opening phase of the second quarter. A great piece of team play saw the Bears get their 4th via the dangerous Matera92. A sharp snap from zackah evened the scoreline. A one person piece of brilliance by feared Roys enforcer, Allikat, gave the Roys the lead for the first time. Again a brilliant team effort led to a Bears goal from JoshWoodenSpoon.
The rest of the quarter was goal for goal with much individual brilliance but even better Team Qooty. Halftime saw heat affected and walking wounded stagger to the sheds for rehydration. The Bears had doubled their lead to a bare 2 points.
The Premiership quarter commenced with the Bears on top but shocking inaccuracy saw them fail to press the advantage. Another piece of brilliance by Cap did see the Bears skip out to a 7 point lead. The Roys Kabanna then swung into action and in a fierce display of Qooty turned the tables. Unanswered goals from Kabanna, tigs2010, Zevon and the dangerous Wosh saw the Roys enter the final break with a handy margin.
The Bears needed to start the last well and they did via a team lifting goal from Millky95. But the home side's hopes were quashed as the Roys put the foot down. Quick goals from zackah, DERRINAL PHIL and Kabanna asserted the Roys dominance. In truth it must be said the Bears fought the game out to the finish and the margin at the final bell did not reflect what was an even contest for much of the day.
For the winners Kabanna with 29 possies, 2 tackles and two goals was terrific and was well supported by DERRINAL PHIL in the Ruck and Allikat who was dominant in the air, laid two tackles and had 22 possessions. The Bears were well served by Millky95 who had 8 tackles to go with 20 possessions, Broken who lad 7 tackles and had 20 possessions and Test Tickle who had 26 possessions and two goals.

This match pitted an in-form Royals against a Dragons outfit experiencing a rare tough season. How did it pan out? This match was also notable for it being the 500th time Pie 4 Life had graced the Qooty field.
For the Dragons the match began with great promise as scores were level. So as the first quarter began the contest was indeed close.
Royals crackerjack winger Kapow ! ! ! opened proceedings with a nifty goal but this was soon replied to by the Dragons' promising Braklet. In the lead up there was a crunching tackle on Spookism that had the home crowd gasping for the talisman of bad luck. Happily Spook was able to soldier on. A quick exchange of goals saw both mobs neck and neck midway through the quarter.
A couple of handy goals from Knifey Spoony and star forward Pie 4 Life had the Dragons open a handy lead. The Royals using home ground smarts fought back with majors to Ulahoopski and the perennially underrated grumbleguts giving them a narrow quarter time lead.
Q.2 saw some fine text book play by both outfits. The Royals began to edge ahead after a couple of snags from The Filth Wizard, another from Ulahoopski and one from PMBangers. The highlight of the quarter was however some magnificent Dragons' teamwork resulting in a classic Qooty goal to VandoHawk.
The third quarter commenced with the Royals enjoying a useful 15 point margin. The ageless The Filth Wizard soon snagged his 3rd and 4th and the Royals extended their margin despite a handy goal from Hatchy1992. Then followed a really tough period of uncompromising Qooty, broken finally by The Filth Wizard who booted his 3rd for the quarter. A late goal from the irrepressible Stoods cut the margin back to 18 at refreshments giving the Dragons a sniff.
Q.4 began with another clever goal from The Filth Wizard and a second from Krakouers and the Royals were on top. The Dragons however fought back with telling majors from DragoDelph and Hatchy1992 bringing the margin to a gettable 15 points. Both sides dug in (tho trenches are a little odd) and it was close until Cakeater snagged a classic.
With a comfortable margin the Royals relaxed and in a jiffy Hatchy1992 dobbed two and the impressive Braklet another. What was happening? A boilover? No, a narrow but fine win to the Royals and a harrowing loss to an unlucky and inaccurate Dragons.
GreyCrow was exceptional in the Ruck with 14 hitouts, 27 possessions and 5 tackles while CakeEater had a great game with 27 possessions and 6 jarring tackles while The Filth Wizard's 6 goals were also decisive for the winners. For the Dragons, DragoDelph was a menace all day with 26 possessions and 7 rib shattering tackles. They were well supported by Hatchy 1992 and Braklet up forward.

Gold City Royals: The Filth Wizard 6, Krakouers 2, Ulahoopski 2, CakeEater, Camros2, grumbleguts, Kapow ! ! !, nahnah, PMBangers

Another warm day greeted the Sin City Swamprats and the Coney Island Warriors. Both teams were hell bent on a win.
The first Quarter was nip and tuck ( a procedure Turbo might consider in the off season) with goal for goal in a very tight affair. The Warriors established a handy 9 point lead via fine finishing of upfield work by FootyGuy13, Piggy Smalls and a special goal from HoFamer pantskyle. The locals had plenty to cheer about with great goals from Gremio Power and Power Raid.
Q.2 commenced hard and tough with an exchange of points until the enigmatic sataris scored a classic opportunist goal. darthmann broke the deadlock with a nice goal putting the locals in front. ShaunDuggan and then sataris extended the Swamprats lead to 16 points.
The Premiership Quarter is a sore point for the Warriors and would it prove their undoing? Yessiree (Tonga) Bob! In an entertaining quarter the Swamprats built on their advantage opening a 23 point lead. so ataris had continued to provide a target for fine upfield work for the locals, while SBYM and Reginald Perrin capitalised on smart play from the visitors.
The last quarter commenced with both mobs locked and loaded. darthmann and then okeydoke 7 slammed through goals for the locals giving them a 33 point lead early in the last. This eventually ballooned to a 43 point win to the Swamprats.
For the winners Dominic03 had a day out with 33 possessions and 11 telling marks. Grav with 25 disposals and 12 crunching tackles was immense as were GotTheGoodes and BloodySwan who racked up the possessions. For the Warriors none were more stoic than Mofra with 23 disposals and 9 marks. Agent93 had a strong day with 24 possessions and a goal as did WaywardSon with 22 disposals and 10 marks.
