Daniel Craig said that Austin Powers forced the new 007s to be more serious

I saw that headline recently, but I thought they were trying to compete with the Bourne flicks? Either way, they've been getting less and less camp since Dalton. They're always going to reflect the times. I like the retro charm of the early Bond films just as much as I like the ultra-serious Craig ones. I wish more auteur filmmakers could get their hands on Bond, though. I would haven been very interested to see Tarantino's Casino Royale with an aging Brosnan, for example.

Yep, colour me excited. Everything about this just sounds awesomely conceived. Interested where they take this.

Skyfall, whilst still good, was actually my least favourite Craig (I'm one of those people who appreciates QoS quite highly in the Bond canon). If Spectre manages to be a 4 star film I think we can safely call it the best period in Bond history.

Mendes has never made a bad film, or even an average film, so I'm expecting something decent.

I would LOVE to see a modern Rosa Klebb.

Who would be best cast to play her?

Monica Bellucci.

It's only a guess, but if they are bringing back SPECTRE and Blofeld there is every chance they are going to bring back a couple of other favourites such as Rosa Klebb, which maybe why they have brought in a 50 year old Bond Girl. A couple of people have mentioned Jaws, but he was never in SPECTRE, so I don't think we will see him, but maybe we will see another version of Red Grant.

Really looking forward to this.

I remember the film crew talking a few months back about attempting to create a henchman that recalled the memorability of Jaws (as has been alluded to in above casting discussion). I assume Jaws won't be appearing, but at least a character that somewhat follows the established example of Jaws. Then again, I'm no expert on the Fleming novels, so I wouldn't really know anything.

I'm pretty sure it was the Bourne films that made the produces realized that they need to be more serious.

They even hired Bourne's stunt crew and 2nd unit directors.

Quantum of Solace was basically a James Bourne movie. It sucked and is/was one of the worst Bond movies of all time. Some things are quintessentially Bond and they shouldn't be messed with.

Thankfully the producers realised their blunder and got things right with SkyFall, which was one of the best Bond movies of all time.

They have been a touch too serious lately. They need to lighten up a touch.

QoS was shot during the writers strike and Daniel Craig was coming up 'cool scenes' on the fly. It wasn't as good as the other 2 he made because it lacked the polish of professional writers.
