A bit bored in the wait.
We don't have a thread like this , there are so many things in the past of our club.
On this day in 1956 we defeated Carlton at South to win the 1st ever night premiership .
All games were played on a Tuesday night at the Lake Oval for the 8 teams that missed out on the top 4 .
We won this in front of 32,450 in a brutal game with shades of the Bloodbath Grand Final in 45 , many fight , many reports , even police on the ground.
The lights were not like what we have now and the pockets were very dark.
Also this was the debut year of Bob Skilton as a 17yo.

A few of us locals used to go every game , didn't have to be us . We would give adults some money to buy us a few big white Carlton Draught cans and we would hide in the darkness , some funny nights there our home .

I was so down ...remember very well heading to a GF gathering of mates straight after loss (mostly Tigers supporters). Was expecting some form of sympathy but instead they hung utter crap on me and the Swans & covered my car in blue and white ribbons.
