Speaking of parenting... been carrying a screaming baby since 2. No sleep. Can’t stop. Any attempt to cease movement is met with self harm. Rips at her eyes, her face, her ears, hits herself.

At what point does it get better? Between the doctors, specialists, councillors, we see on regular basis, it should have stopped six months, then twelve, eighteen, now edging on two years and only getting worse, more intense. My back killing me. My heart shooting pain out to all extremities. My emotions dead from watching the suffering.

We’ve tried everything that’s been suggested to us, not one thing has worked for longer than a week til she figures it out and sees it coming. Oh, just keep trying. Like all the (often conflicting) information went straight in and straight out.

Ah well. Haven’t tried hard liquor yet. Medical professionals strongly discourage that but at this point their advice has been no more beneficial than old bogan women. Someone may as well enjoy it.

I haven’t slept properly for the last 10 years!

In all seriousness though, our second daughter started to sleep through the night just after 2 years of age. Our first was a good sleeper at nights, but they were both terrible mappers. Do you have anyone that can help out for a night or 2 so you can get a proper night sleep? Have you tried a toddler bed? We ended up having a single bed in our youngest room and room turns sleeping in there once we transitioned to a bed.

My girls are now both 9 and a half and 7 and are fabulous sleepers now. It will pass, but it is hell whilst you are going through it.

Watching this documentary changed my view on the occult, a must see

That's not how I remember Ghost Dog. It was far blacker and had samurai swords.

Time for an exorcism. She's clearly haunted.

Nah it does get better. What happens if you try some tough love and just put her down and leave her alone?

Our first went through about 4-6 months of being a horrid sleeper but eventually got over it. It's hard. It does your head in. But it does get better.

Toss and turns. Sometimes sleeps. Sometimes hurts herself. All the time screams.

Missus and I may have to start sleeping separately cause she is always, I mean always, addicted to boob. Never taken a bottle or anything. Never had milk or formula. If my partner is even in the house when baby is in a mood like that it's like she's possessed and won't rest til she gets that nipple.

And bites a chunk out of it. Like a horror film. No lie.

The self-harm thing is a concern. Sounds like she might be in some real discomfort. Have the docs run all the appropriate tests?

Some.

Some radiology related things, she had to be strapped in like in a mental asylum. It was cruel. We couldn't go through with them on the day. Especially considering she'd been in a good mood prior to that.

I think she is just always always looking for something to distract or occupy herself with and sometimes that's her own body. She pulls her feet and toes or harm itself with her hands if she can't get her hands on an object. The whole time I think it has been as simple as she hates going to sleep and fights tiredness rather than give in before it gets to dangerously overtired levels. It took us six odd months to find a reliable way to get her to sleep (walking in the pram) but even now she's cottoned on to that and aggressively resists.

This sounds like my son up until 16 months until my wife had just about enough. Could only get him to sleep on the boob or going for a drive. Day or night didn't matter.
Did an online sleep psychologist thing where she got us to religiously get him to sleep in the car at the same constant times the first week. Changed the night light to red in the second week. Changed him from a cot to a toddler bed in the third week with the suggestion that he help me put the bed together by handing over screws etc. I initialy rolled my eyes with this last bit but did it anyway and it seemed to help him acquire some ownership of the bed. Anyway it's all fallen into place and now we're slowly distancing ourselves from the bed as he falls to sleep. The boobs and the car have resumed normal usage.

She might be a little too old for it now but do you swaddle her?

I know controlled crying is hard but if they're swaddled well, then it reduces the harm from loose hands and fingers.

Surely they can prescribe some mild sedative for alternate nights or something. Lack of sleep for your daughter (not to mention yourself) is actually harmful.

Never been one for swaddling.

It's what shits me most. So many things that are present have been present since she got pulled out the womb (sleeping, no bottle, no swaddle, etc) and we raised these with various people and all we got was 'thats having a baby, keep trying, she will come around'.

Well she didn't.

There's some discussion as to whether she may have autistic sensory issues but our specialised therapy classes have really been wound down during the pandemic.

Lol I'll elaborate on this in a bit. This is my post to remind myself to do it.

Has your partner looked at her diet? Something may be reacitng with your daughter. Look at everything and try cancelling certain foods out. I'm just thinking because she loves the boob still.
My daughter was on the boob/formula and now oat milk for the best part of a year and sleeps well. She had stomach issues when she was on the boob.

Do you have a set night time routine? Once she gets to sleep does she sleep through or does she wake erratically? Have you tried co-sleeping?

I was going to ask whether she was on the spectrum or not but didn't want to be rude.

Sounds like you and your better half are going through a real hard time and I'm sorry to hear this edgie. I dont have any good advice but hopefully this can make you smile for a minute or 2.

Was having a bit of a heart to heart with my 11 year old lad... and he tells me his penis gets really big when its erect... I'm like yeah that pretty normal... he looks at me... dad like real big... like 3 times the size... I kinda laugh and go ok.. mate so have you measured it?.

Yeah it's like 14cm's...

Well... ok... um.... yeah that's normal mate...

Answer I got back was... not for an 11 year old. Lol

😂😂😂 I am sure my husband is happy we had girls as I am not sure he would handle that conversation. If it was up to him he would just tell our girls that they were plucked out of the cabbage patch. I have already assigned him the duty of teaching them both to drive, as I have suffered through 2 horrendous pregnancies, so he has to take one from the team.

Yeah, I remember chatting with you about this early on when you first made a few posts.

I can only talk from my own experience but our kids loved three things; being swaddled tightly, being in a constantly bouncing basinet, and being in a kids seat on the back of a bike while I rode around the parklands. They all helped with getting them to sleep. Our eldest was easy, he slept from the beginning, but the other two were a bit more highly strung and would take ages to go down.

That would be a hard road, no doubt. I've got a couple of friends who are dealing with this at various levels.
