An award named after a guy who OD on cocaine says something....

Do you really want to throw stones here given your best and fairest is named after a convicted felon?

ummm, this guy isn't the same person that our B&F is named after:

Anyway, back on topic... was this rumor about Murray Newman (just wrong country!) or is there another Eagle that got in trouble?

Provide a credible link that backs up your claim.

Both Wikipedia and the Blueseum don't mention anything related to your claim.

Are you really surprised Bluseum wouldn't mention it? Of course they would overlook it

Unfortunately John did get into trouble when he was a bank teller for the SSB.
Luckily for him that great Calton man Sir Kenneth Luke got him off.

Regretably Nicholls also had a few other "issues" through the 70's primarily i think as a response to his liking for the nags.

We done yet?

Well this is one of the worst threads ive ever seen.
Can somebody at-least make an accusation? That way we can know your a complete flog when its proven to be false. Otherwise you could say any random crap like this...

Well recently i heard a certain AFL player got in a bit of trouble after an altercation of sorts. Im not sure what the altercation involved or which club they were from or who was involved but ive heard they were a bad boy.
(waits a month or two for the next afl player to slip up) Or yeah thats what i was talking about before...

Apparently the wedding was in Thailand and they went into Bangcok for the bucks night, and woke up the next morning and found a dead guy in the hotel room, and the bride's young brother with his finger chopped off, and ............

No, better to use OpenBuildings.com and Chopper Read...

-Wikipedia is as reliable as OpenBuildings given they are both able to be edited by the public yet you are hanging your defense on the first one?

-Chopper Read's book would have had to pass legal scrutiny before it got published. If it was a false accusation do you not think Nicholls would have sued him for it?

Face it, Carlton named their best and fairest after a crook no matter how much you stick your fingers in your ears and pretend it never happened.

well it looks like there was no substance to the rumour i heard ...but it appears young Newman is feeling a little left out and is doing his club proud ;)

On track to be Sampi 2.0 at the moment
