Marty’s recent supposedly regretful comments over Shutter Island were ironic to me as imo he hasn’t made anything better since. As a delayed opening weekend unreliable twist thriller it was always going to navigate a very different path of appreciation to his usual fare, but on revisits I think it stands up and demonstrates a level of cinema that deserted him thereafter.
