Best band i have seen live is TOOL, but gee Metallica come close........ other honourable mentions, muse, a perfect circle were awesome, the butterfly effect are great live, purely because they back up on stage what they have done on their albumns..........

two groups that surprised me with just how good they were live... the killers and also sarah blasko was awesome

Tull would have been the ultimate band to see in the 70s. It would be like watching Monty Python and having great music played at the same time

I thought you said Bono has to wear gay sunnies on stage because of some kinda eye condition. Please can you let me know why he was shadeless in that clip.

Well, maybe he developed it later in his life, I think he only started wearing sunglasses in the early 90s, and this video was in 1983. ;)

The Who should be winning this. Live at Leeds is widely recognised as the greatest live album ever, and they were generally amazing live. Shame they couldn't ever match their awesome live sound in the studio.

Back in 96 when I was 10 I saw Micheal Jackson....he was pretty ****ing awesome.:thumbsu:

I was 16! And I agree. Was a fantastic concert. :thumbsu:

FYI, looks like he is touring again next year. 30 dates in 30 cities. Hopefully Melbourne is one of them!!!!

(Also have seen Stevie Wonder ((twice)) and both times played for 2 and a half hours, which is pretty dam good. Never ending list of hits).

Best ive seen in no particular order -

Janes' Addiction
Radiohead
RATM
Pearl Jam
Metallica
Machine Gun Fellatio
Muse

PS Pornland were awesome!!!

Best band ive seen live is The Prodigy, just after Fat of the Land came out. Incredible show. Absolutely tore it up for over 2 hours. Ive seen hundreds of bands since then and nothing has come close to that one show. Whilst their more recent shows ive seen havent lived up to it, that one stands out as the best live show ive seen and maybe ever will see.

For a more old school one, Elton John two years back. Just a great showman, hit after hit after hit.

Would have liked to have seen Pink FLoyd in their heyday, Prince would have been interesting, Nirvana, The Beatles.

Prodigy would have been good. I saw Prince in NY..i admit i got dragged along coz it wasnt my cup of tea but was amazed how good he was ..had seriously good muso's working for him. Saw Sting in Houston at a similar time in the 80's and he was seriously lousy..zero talent and zero voice.

Seen most of the decent aussie acts so will list a few visitors i've seen
Elvis Costello..chronically bad.
B52's...surprisingly good..didnt think they could even play live.
Clash...fantastic..saw them 3 times.
Status Quo..brilliant live act. Went forever and crisp bluesy rock. One of the best i ever saw.
R Stones...dont remember much about that night at all i'm afraid
Dead Kennedy's...just a mess. They got the bouncers to stop anyone that even resembled a punk fan from getting in ..Jello Biafra kept on insisting they werent a punk band lol. Thrashy stuff and couldnt play but didnt care.
U2..my g/f at the time luved them so i got a bit sick of seeing them every tour. Quality live but a bit boring after the 3rd time...Bono shits me to tears tho...w***er.
Pink Floyd was a great show..music and lasery lights were incredible.
Simple Minds...saw them at the coogee bay hotel in syd and they were REALLY good at a smallish venue. Had a band called Tears for Fears backing them up from memory..not bad either.
RedhotCP's were pretty damn average i thought.
Buzzcocks were good...saw them at the DeeWhy Hotel many moons ago.
Pearl Jam were average live i thought. ok but better at a small venue i reckon.
Others i cant remember much about for various reasons.

Have seen AC/DC without Bon Scott and been great....i reckon if u saw these blokes between 1975-1979 u saw one of the best live acts ever. Uncomplicated sound that is just brilliant live. Never warmed to the new singer tho coz a bit of an average screamer and tries too hard.

Yeah i'll nominate AC/DC 1975-1980 with Bon Scott. Reckon u would've seen one of the best live acts. Quo, Clash, Floyd, prob best i've seen.

Good thread, was gonna start a new one but thought I should bump it.

Some of the best I've seen...

1.) Nero Live (Saw them twice in one night. Amazing!)
2.) Bassment Jaxx (Seen them twice. Both times they were amazing)
3.) Arcade Fire (Almost caught the drum stick)
4.) Kid Cudi
5.) Dizzee Rascal
6.) Swedish House Mafia (Didn't even like them before I saw them)
7.) Lupe Fiasco

Some who I'd like to see...

1.) Red Hot Chili Peppers (BDO. Yessir)
2.) Queens of the Stone Age
3.) Bloc Party (Futures baby!)

Solo:
Tina Turner
Prince
-------------
Lots of others were great but nowhere near those two.

Bands:
Rolling Stones
Cheap Trick
Blondie
Sade
The Church
Simple Minds

The Clash were awesome in their heyday, pure controlled fury

Enjoyed the Buzzcocks on the first couple of tours

Another of mine was Killing Joke, absolutely explosive live, live albums or DVD's do not give any justice to the pure wall of sound they generate

I'm more of a jazzy/rock type so I'd say Steely Dan. For the regular rock'n'rollers you couldn't go past Pink Floyd. I'm not into the flashy showy stage antics, in other words, probably a party pooper, I like the bands that actually put on a show highlighting their abilities with conviction. In rock music, Pink Floyd did that the best, from what I saw anyway. But there's many others. In the States Kansas were a great live band. The Band is one I would've loved to have seen live.

M83. Being from Perth and underage for all but a year of my existence, it's been tough. But they were just so good... it was so fun.

Can't go past Tool, just so awesome musically and visually. I've seen a couple of their live shows and they were mind blowing.

The Church are great live, no real fanfare about their shows, they just deliver and then some.

Beck puts on a great live show too, saw him at a festival and expected it to be a pretty mellow acoustic affair but he had a big band and rocked out, the highlight of the festival by a country mile.
