Icke highly sought after
Maybe we can pinch the brilliant Miller or Pelchen to fill the position if Icke takes the Melbourne job.
After all, their fair negotiations and brilliant presentations in trade week secured their respective clubs the signatures of Judd and Thornton.
The fact Melbourne are after our Football Manager means we're on the right track and we're a well run club.SIX months ago, Steven Icke helped deliver the recruiting coup of the decade. Now, with Chris Judd safely ensconsed at Carlton, Icke suddenly is the subject of what might be football's next major change of clubs.
Carlton's general manager of football operations is being touted as the next chief executive of Melbourne, one of two clubs he represented as a player.
Melbourne chairman Paul Gardner said last night the club had spoken with Icke and planned to do so again.
"He says he's up to his neck with the Blues, but we intend to talk to him again," Gardner told the Herald Sun.
Icke proved elusive yesterday, but, in one brief conversation, said: "If the opportunity came up, I guess you'd be crazy not to look at it.
"I'm enjoying what I'm doing; there's no reason to leave Carlton.
"There's still a lot of work to be done here."
