I like the look of Hughes at CHF. He has a good mark, nice long kick, good pace, mobile, moves well at ground level and straightens us up. He's shown enough to tell me all this in a couple of senior games last year and the occasional Coburg or practise match. Who cares if he got dropped to Coburg 2nd for disciplinary reasons, who cares he lacked some commitment. He's very young and inexperienced and will improve these areas. Another thing? He's about 6'5", so why is he expected to get under packs like a rover and get dirty?

Throw him at CHF in Round 1 against the Blues and watch him improve the team and himself over the season. Throw Schultz at CHB and leave him there. Schultz is only 22 remember. Reiwoldt can fill these 2 spots also. One more thing. GO AWAY JOHNSON, YOU ARE PULLING OUR WHOLE CLUB DOWN :o

I'd much rather see Polak there.

But if Hughes continues good form in the pre-season, bring him in for Riewoldt.

And have a Richo-Hughes-Polak pronged attack.

hughes is a bit too small for a key forward role, but on the flank or pocket he can do a bit of damage with his leading to the ball.

yeh and sarge up forward and polak back down back again.

Polak played in defence at an intra-club match Friday night (Vs Coburg Tigers @ Victoria Park), so I suspect it will be his regular posi during the season.

Also playing Friday night were Cogs, Gus, Jacko, Rainesy, Gourdis, Polak, McGuane, Hyde, Connors, Collard. Gus and Cogs both requiring ice post-match, still recovering from recent injuries...and Rawlings ran the session.

Reading reports, Polak played forward.

May well sprout another cm or so!

Polak should be an automatic CHB. Why people think we are in the position to play him at CHF has bamboozled me.

Sure Polak has good hands but he has never shown anything as a forward does not have a good enough work rate and there is no will to go from contest to contest.

polak should be our defensive chb, we got more younger players to play forward instead such as rw, shultz and hughes and our smaller mids

He may have already coz last time i checked he was 192cm how ever i do agree that he is tall enough to play KP but has to be strong overhead because he is at the shorted end of KP players

Look at Lids...he is 188 and capable if playing KP and Joel Bowden has had to play as a KP back man at the only 188 also

the real problem is their physical presence!! Hughes has none at the moment and we need someone who has it when Richo is gone. he is still young and has time for this but could also do with an injection of aggression

hf. petiffer hughes morton

f. delidio reiwoldt brown

we must persavere with this conbination and rotate richo, shultz, collard, edwards, tambling depending on form & oposition
but polak MUST make chb his own with rance & thursty making guest apearances depending on the oposition.

they got a lot of undersized players in key positions. some can handle it becasue they have strength, speed, or agility. hughes is is leading type of forward, but still need to add a bit more strength so he dont get brushed aside and stamina to wear his opponent down.

schultz need to be given a longer run, he showed he has a good lead, as well as he can take a contested mark.

Lids in the pocket all season?

Should be going down there for a rest after busting his valve on the ball or on the wing.

It's like we have an A bomb and wer'e not allowed to use it.

Come on Terry remove the cotton wool.

a little bit off topic but how many games did schulz play last year because on the internet it say's he played against geelong but didnt get any stats.

I dont know if Hughes has the mobility to take CHF IMO.

For me, it should be Richo at Centre Half Forward.

And Polak > Hughes in the Full Forward spot. Polak has an exceptional set of hands. Which gives him the edge. :)

think of how well bowden can play on a less damging forward. polak can take bowdens man and release him of his defensive duties and make him more attacking defender b/c wen bowden is forced to play more of key back role we lose his attacking ability, and also wen he does run off his man there are goals usually scored against him.

polak should be our chb, we got shultz and hughes and rw as our kp forwards why make polak a forward wen he plays solid in defence and we have all these other key forward prospects.
