Cmon, lets all huddle together and pray that what we saw in the 3rd quarter of the game last night, Judd and Stevens improvement in form, Kreuzer, Murphy, Jamison, Eddie and Fev will continue to click and improve against the Pies.

If we can play with spirit, and even if just Scotland and Houlihan play better adding to those mentioned above we'll have a real crack at the Pies.

Port last year Grand Finalist still 0-3, as are Melbourne... Weagles are'nt doing great... and hell Richmond are now being taken back to earth after round 1.

We beat the pies, we can have a real sniff against Melbourne building momentum and team unity and confidence. From that anything can happen...

so all you religious folk (I'm not), pray for a win.... pray for all us suffering Carlton supporters who know we deserve a win, and against the filth it will be sweeter :)

I think the Carlton and Collingwood mods have got about 16 yellow and red cards on stand bye to be used after the result.
If they are to be used on us, lets hope they are as a result of us giving them complete and outer crap after a big Carlton win :)
Go Blues

Sorry....was perusing the Collingwood membership list and God, Jesus, Allah, Buddah, Vishnu....even Satan.......all signed up and proud Collingwood members.

Forget prayer.... just plead with your mids to provide something...anything that resembles defensive pressure ;)

IF we lose by more than 3 goals, I will get myself a red card on the pies board. Thats how I feel heading into this match. We coul dhave a real crack at them.

I agree.

We can beat Collingwood, it doesnt matter where we are on the ladder and if we can strong three quarters of decent footy together we are in with a show.

We can win 3 games in a row if we beat Collingwood. We should beat Melbourne and well, I don't want to look to far ahead, but we then have Adelaide at the 'G.

You haven't had a win in your past fourteen outings and you're talking about three in a row? Now that's optimism!

We will beat Melbourne with our eyes closed.

Everyone knows we can bob up against the Pies, if we do sneak across the line, that will be two in a row so we give ourselves every chance.

By any chance have you guys been employing this "eyes closed" technique in your last 14 contests?

I have seen a few of yours mids close their eyes and put fingers in their ears as soon as you lose the pil.

Isn't rivalry great? Too bad we didn't see any similar threads leading into round 18 last year...

To see you guys languishing in 15th position and winless proves yet again that there is no substitue for a winning culture.

Winning culture? Beautiful. Found the following in an article entitled "Greg Norman Syndrome".

Dregs of Melbourne
The Magpies were established in 1892 to represent the Melbourne municipality of Collingwood; an area that had been described as "pre-ordained to be a slum". As a low laying, poorly drained region, it was frequently flooded with sewage and the dregs of society.

Rivalries
Carlton - Collingwood has met Carlton in six grand finals. It has lost five of them. Collingwood's only win was in 1910 was known as the 'Bloodbath' after an all-in brawl developed in the final term.
Since that victory, Collingwood has suffered a string of grand final humilations at the hands of Carlton.
The worst of these was in the 1970 grand final. Leading by 44 points at half-time, Collingwood fell to pieces and lost by 10 points.

we are better in round 3 than round 1 and we will be better again in round 4. Watch out magpipes!

We have been getting a little bit better each week. If we can string 4 quarters together against Collingwood - who knows, we might just get over the line.

I just get the feeling the loss yesterday really may have hit home to the players, and Ratts wont let them forgive and forget so quickly that losses are acceptable when you had the win.

If we continue to get another slight improvement from Judd and Stevens, Fev provides a 100% commitment and contest, Murphy continues to relish being un-tagged, Eddie and Kreuzer back it up with another good showing... far out.... and then if Waite and Fish have a good one... and Simpson returns to the Simpson we know...

I feel the need for tissues...

And then Gibbs continues to get better.... and Cloke and Scotland show their old club that they can go f themselves.... and Hampson now knowing Kreuzer is there takes up the challenge and pulls up a blinder to keep his place.

And Hadley just resumes as normal knowing what it's like to pee all over the pies. That 2003 GF... how sweet!

More tissues....

Yeah right we are going to get hammered again and we will have the same excuses. And we will be happy with another loss and the same piss poor excuses.

It may just be wind......however if this feeling persists...please consult your doctor

Dude, every team that has played Richmond this season has lost the following week....

Richmond has this power that makes teams a little to self confident in themselves...

seriously you should of beaten them by 100+ today the way they were playing.

Sure we lost to them... but given our slight improvement every week, don't think we'll be pushovers....

Every game this season we have had control for good periods of the game (Richmond we were in front for almost 3/4 of the game, StKilda great 1st and last quarters, Essendon -3 good quarters one of which superb).

Now if our boys can sustain at least 3+ quarters of good footy we can shake and rattle you!

Well....only two teams have played this year after playing Richmond...you guys and North Melbourne.

Can you answer this for me?

How was it that after losing to Richmond in round 1 you were overconfident in round 2?

Was it the fact you hadn't beaten the Saints in 5 odd years? Or maybe Parrot emailed his "Why Carlton were the real winners against the tigers" post to all the players and coaching staff.

North Melbourne....well, I think Hawthorn and some umpiring had more to do with Norths losing than Richmond....but a nice try nonetheless!!!

Who says we have to kick 21+ goals to beat your mob? How many did Brisbane kick against you last week?

Who cares how many goals they kicked? No disrespect but the Lions at the Gabba is a a tougher task than paying Carlton at the moment.

It will be a good game and carlton will be no push over, but even if Carlon play well, Collingwood will be too good.

The pies are a completely different proposition to the Bombers! We are a tough, well drilled and disciplined outfit. There is no way you guys are going to kick 21 goals against the pies.

Post of the thread. Love em or hate em, Collingwood are extremely disciplined and IMO the best pressure team in the league (almost the exact opposite to us). I'd love to see us score as freely as we did on Sat night but cant see it. If Sat night proved anything, it proved how far Carlton & Essendon still have got to go.

Having said that, I think it may be closish... Pies by 2-3 goals.
