I couldn't get to the game, but seeing the highlights and reading reports, I cannot see who will go out for Buddy & Bateman?

Who goes out of the team Rd 2?

With Bateman and Franklin back in next week and whispers of a return for Rioli, who possibly goes out of the side we fielded yesterday.

Looking at the side i would find it very difficult to drop players. Of the players under 20 games i thought Suckling, Peterson and Moss did more than enough to warrent selection.

Shiels and JKT probably wern't as good as i've seen them but was still good enough.

Even Morton, who has been average recently had a pretty resonable game.

Re: So who do we drop?

gets worse when you think that rioli might make it back........ i would say that moss and one of peterson/hooper/JKT/shiels for rioli and bateman....... we might have to drop another one of those three or morton for buddy to come back in. Wouldn't want to be a selector this week, in fact, i would have to be one of the selectors in 4 or 5 weeks time.

if i had to guess, rioli will not rushed back, so we will drop JKT and morton for bateman and buddy and go in a little taller next week.

Re: So who do we drop?

It's a good dilemma to have & to think in the coming weeks we have Buddy, Bateman, Sewell, Rioli, Burgoyne & Young to slot back in the side + we have Taylor, Dowler, Muston, Whitecross also who will add pressure to the selection table once they are ready to go!

Buddy, Changa & Rioli to come in next week.

Provided there is no suspensions/unsuspecting injuries to come out of yesterday, 3 to go out will be out of: Suckling, Morton, Moss, Shiels & JKT.

Go Hawks :thumbsu:

Ins and Outs for next week?

Am hoping the knocks Peterson and Renouf got won't keep them out.

That aside, must say, it's hard to think who will be dropped after a pretty good performance team-wide. The new guys where impressive and some of those that have struggled to make the grade to date, like Morton and Suckling, also showed a bit.

So unless we have injuries, I would expect those up for consideration to be demoted for the week to come from Morton, JKT, Moss, Suckling, Peterson and Shiels. The coaches will want bigger and more experienced bodies against a mature Cats side.

One would expect Buddy and Changa to come in and maybe Rioli if fit. I'd imagine both Young and Dowler would require another hit out at BH at least. I would like to see Grimley or Lisle come in for more ruck back up, but if they couldn't build a case against the Dees, the plan is obviously to play the extra mid. Maybe they were injured or we were playing the coaches guessing game. Who knows.

So for mine, if it's in Buddy and Bateman, then the likely outs will be Suckling and Morton.

If Rioli is also an in, then the additional out has to come from JKT, Shiels or Moss for mine. In yesterday's game I thought Moss > JKT > Shiels, but Rioli is a more natural replacement for Moss. Can't pick this one.

What do others think?

Re: Ins and Outs for next week?

I'd be very hesitant about dropping Shiels with Sewell still injured. I think OUT: Morton, Suckling (both pretty unlucky) IN: Buddy, Bateman. Cyril shouldn't play unless he's absolutely 100 per cent.

Re: So who do we drop?

I would have guessed that with buddy coming back in, we can lose a tall. Was thinking slotting shoenmakers back into his traditional role down back and perhaps pushing murph out of the side?

Then again, having murph in allows us to still play 3 talls up forward when roughy has to ruck for a bit as we can swing shoenmakers up the forward 50 and murph can take down back.

Having a flick thru the cats forward line, we have hawkins and mooney as talls with SJ and Chappy as smaller forwards. Would think gibbo and browny could take SJ and Chappy respectively, depending how far up the ground they play though, with shoenmakers and gilham taking hawkins+mooney(or vise versa) when renouf is rucking, or gilham and murphy when shoenmakers pushses forward when roughy has to ruck.

Will most likely come down to what the selection panel feels we need more of against geelong as opposed to individual player form perhaps.

And perhaps roughy can have a quick yarn to the OPSM umpire sponsors before next game as well! If he can change the 3-5 into 5-3/6-2 next week, that'd be extremely helpful!

Re: Ins and Outs for next week?

Morton -> Franklin: I would think this is an obvious one. Morton played a bit higher than Buddy would normally, and I think played quite well. In the end, it's a no-brainer that Franklin must be in

JKT -> Bateman: More of a positional, like-for-like swap than anything else, with JKT filling in the Young / Bateman role. I don't think his disposal was always the best, though that could be first game jitters. Suckling would probably be my other candidate, but plays a different role off half back, and I think he will stay.

Rioli -> Unsure, maybe Moss? Would be stiff on Moss, and I don't think Cyril should play unless 100%

Re: So who do we drop?

With the lack of Ruck Stocks in our team I think we will play an extra tall to compensate.

Out: Moss (too many small forwards with Rioli, Ossie, Hooper & poss Brownie), Suckling and Morton

In: Buddy, Bateman, Rioli

I think Peterson & JKT did enough to get another go next week.

Re: So who do we drop?

.

All I ask is Clarko and his henchmen do the adjustments with kindness and compassion ....

I'm sure they will.

Clarko will tell them the importance of a highly ranked depth, that it takes the whole list to win a premiership.

Re: So who do we drop?

From our best 22 I see it like this:

Out: Morton, Suckling, JKT, Shiels, Moss, Murphy, Peterson

In: Franklin(Morts), Bateman(Suckling, this offers more run:thumbsu:), Rioli(Murphy, although that not like for like haha, probs means Rioli up forward and Brown down back), Burgoyne(Moss, play a forward/midfield role), Sewell(Shiels), Young(JKT), Taylor/Bailey (Probs Peterson haha)

Re: So who do we drop?

I think Murphy is well suited in his role now (taking the oppositions 3rd best option).

Last year he was found wanting because he was being played on the #1 opposition forward and wasn't up to it.

Hard to gage if Murphy has improved yet but going by his role yesterday I would say so :thumbsu: + having all the added pressure from the boys up the field makes any defender look better ala Zac Dawson last yer

Morton was my original thought, however, i'm leaning more toward Suckling and one of Moss or JKT.
Whoever goes is stiff whatever the case.

Peterson is required atm and Hooper had more impact, and his experience will be required for Cats.

Buddy in for Morton.

Bateman in for Suckling. (Suckling is too slow for a midfield role & I don't think he defends anywhere near enough to play downback).

Rioli in for ...???

Rioli in for Moss...

Moss would be unlucky to miss out but we have too many small forwards and I can't see Hooper missing out after yesterdays performance.

Sat on level 1 on saturday, so I only can fairly comment on the plays close to the fence.

I think Brant is on the right track.

Morton is just missing that 2% of intensity at contests and when going for marks in a contest. Not calling him a squib, just doesnt hit it flat out.

Suckers lacked a litle defensively and turned the ball over in critical areas, which against quality opposition would have hurt.

If Rioli comes in, a tough decision between Peterson and JKT.
