Re: 2010 Wimbledon

Why was the other post deleted? Pretty legitimate anger if you ask me. The medical time out was only to stop Petzchn's momentum. Even if he Nadal does have a little niggle the trainer won't help him.

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

you mean like feds half an hour bathroom break against davydenko at the US open???

You mean the two minute bathroom break at the Australian Open? Seriously? That's your reply to Nadal's constant time wasting throughout his career, his numerous 'injury' timeouts when matches aren't going as planned and now coaching? Nadal is as about as dodgy as it gets on the tennis court.

2 minute? hahaha your kidding me.The press reported "suspicious" bathroom break.Taking a bathroom break after a 30 minute first set is as dodgy as it gets, but hey? its the good boy in federer.Give me a break, he was playing within the rules, maybe he had a cramp. Its simply your assumption that his was his strategy  unless you had proof that he was faking it.Put up or shut up.

Regarding time wasting, agassi was too quick between the points and he was pissed when the returner was not ready and he wanted to serve. Its called strategy..and he is playing well within the rules. He takes his full allotted time and sometimes given a warning for it.But hey dont let your personal agenda come inbetween your fantasy and reality

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

he will defend nadal even if it costs his balls

so tell me? the umpires have the power to penalise him a point. Why havent they done it? usually he uses up his 20 seconds and sometimes goes past it but after the warning usually comes back to 20 seconds again  unless u can prove otherwise.I am waiting

Proof? Surely the fact that he played his best game of the match straight after the timeout is proof enough? Even the commentators were joking about his phantom injury after that.

but federer never did it right?

http://tennis.fanhouse.com/2010/01/28/roger-federer-gives-new-meaning-to-being-no-1/

Federer was crushed in the first set and then took a bathroom break.

After the match, he explained why:

"When the sun comes from the side, the ball seems half the size and is just hard to hit. I never take toilet breaks, but I thought 'Why not?'

I just hoped that with every minute it took, the sun would move another centimeter."

He then threw in, as an afterthought, that he also had to go to the bathroom.

Well, tennis doesn't have bathroom monitors. Yet. So we can't say for sure what he did.

But Federer made it clear that he was looking for the break so the sun might set a little and wouldn't be in his eyes. And the rules clearly state that a bathroom break "can be used for no other purpose" than going to the bathroom.

But hey its federer...mr goody goody boy.Had to to go to the bathroom after a 27 minute first set.Wonder how his kidneys are holding up?

Interesting article.

There's the interview. Where does he say he took the bathroom break because of the sun? It isn't even mentioned once.

err it was not said in the press conference, it was mentioned in the post match interview  didnt you watch the match?? guess not.

Anyway taking a bathroom break after just 27 minutes and getting smashed is an example of sportsmanship? have u ever seen federer take a bathroom break anyway???

Of course it was. I'll just take your word for it...

have u ever seen federer take a bathroom break anyway???

I haven't seen him receive warnings for time wasting and coaching. I haven't seen him call for the trainer during a match either. Have you?

Yep, Federer was getting comprehensively beaten by Davydenko, so he takes a 5 minute break to wait for the court to go further into shade. He finally steps back on court, umpire called time, he then decides it's time for a shirt change, another minute. I remember reading an article about it, the journo rightfully had some serious doubts about it, saying that if it was anyone else there would have been questions asked but for Fed, nothing.

shhhh dont disturb timeisrunningouts fantasy.Taking a bathroom break after 27 minutes is apparently ok, but calling for a trainer after 2:40 hours is cheating apparently.

i did, try aussie open sf against safin where he was losing..called for a trainer for his arm there

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

And he was genuinely struggling during a grueling match at the deep end of a grand slam. Slight difference between that and Nadal's effort today.

yes yes he also had to go to the toilet 27 minutes into the match while getting smashed and thats fine  and a guy with a chronic knee problem after 2 long matches calls a trainer for his knee and its cheating.Nice logic

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

So Nadal went another five sets eh? I went to bed after he won the first set expecting him to win relatively easily. Guess I should've stayed up.

And now to moan and whine about the lack of play on middle Sunday. Although it is a nice time to catch up on lost sleep in the last week.
