Would love to see this. Malthouse as assistant with Hardwick would be amazing. Mick is one of if not the best coach of the last 5-10 years, I dont think it would happen but let's face it. Once a tiger, always a tiger![]()
The Eagles are into him in a massive way. Would not surprise me to see him head back west.mick is going to be director of coaching not an assistant to bucks. i thought thompson is in a similar position but for whatever reason he's having a more hands on role.
and im not sure if Hardwick would like someone like mick in his shadows, maybe hird is open to the idea as he hasnt got coaching experience whereas hardwick's been in the game for over a year, and bucks has been an assistant for a couple of years.
its really hard to imagine mick not having a senior coaching role next year.

The only merit to this is that Buckley looks like a pretty hard headed bloke with a bit of ego who might feel that he is above taking advise from someone else and wants to do it his way.
Takes a big ego to demand he takes over regardless of Malthouses' performance.
If Malthouse felt that he would be pushed to the back then that would be hard to handle and perhaps a coach who was going to empower him a little more may be enticing.
Dont know what the relationship is between Malthouse and Buckley. You would think Malthouse would find it hard to support the bloke who has shafted him.
Help lift a club rather than support the bloke who shafted you reaping the rewards for your years of work.

In the post game tv interview and press conference Mick showed plenty of respect and praise for our young team. Funnily Dimma said at quarter time that if we can get the game on our terms it would translate onto the scoreboard, Leigh choffed at this saying it was "very optimistic coaching". MM after the game had this to say: "They've got a very young side that will get better and when they get momentum, or it shifts their way, they can be a very damaging side". It feels good to know that someone like Mick can acknowledge where we are heading.
During the broadcast Bruce claimed that Mick had said if he could have any young player in the competition at the moment it would be Dusty. He also said he has seen the tigers live three games this season, now i know all coaches make a habit of going to opposition games but all Richmond games this season?
I like the idea of having Mick around the club but on the same token i think hes more of an all or nothing coach, second fiddle isnt for him. Ive got a bad feeling that he will unfortunately end up at Carlton. With the top job likely to open up, they have a nice list to work with that in the right hands can be succesful.
Malthouse will be coaching next year.

Malthouse will be director of coaching next year. Thought I'd point out your mistake there tugga.
You make it sound like he has just gone out of his way to turn up and watch Richmond because he has nothing better to do.
Mick works for SEN too. You guys have thus far played one Thurs night match where Mick was providing special comments for SEN, another Friday nighter where Mick again was working for SEN and then a Saturday night match where we had already played the night before so as an opposition coach you scout your upcoming opposition that week in advance. So really, he went and watched Richmond once, like ALL AFL coaches do in the lead up to when they play them. The other two times was simply coincidence that Richmond played on the nights Mick happened to be fulfilling his obligations to SEN.
This will not happen. You can rule out any interstate move.
IF he is to coach elsewhere next season it will be in Victoria.
Fwiw, I expect him to remain at Collingwood but time will tell.
