does it hurt like 2002 and 2003 and the GFs before it??

Not at all.

I've watched it a bunch of times, well only bits and pieces - I'm not masochistic!

It would've hurt but 2010 and Collingwood, barring injuries, will pretty much grab a couple more flags anyway if things go right.

Haven't watched it , maybe that's why it doesn't hurt . 2003 hurt me , it was supposed to be payback and Burns KO on Jbrown at the start got my hopes up and then well you know what happens.

The flooding of the ads for that cats premiership doco have been bad enough, I haven't even watched the 2010 GF draw since... So no, I will not be watching it and won't be watching '02 and '03 either. Kthnxbai.

Seen it live, Seen a replay. Seen the cats doco on Fox footy, seen the 2 hours doco on ch7, seen footy flashbacks this morning with it. Seems like everything im watching has it.

Only seen it in parts though. Turn away most times.

Yes, it hurts.

Only watched the Two Hours doco, but admittedly I turned away for a lot of the ending as it got me pretty angry. Haven't seen a replay of 02 or 03 and never plan to, the memory of crying at the 'G is enough for me (hey I was young!). I only watched the doco to get some passion back for this season and it certainly did that job.

I didn't watch replays of 77 or 79 or 80 or 81 or 02 or 03 ..........so why the xxxx would I watch 2011 ?
I have watched 90 & 2010 many many times....call me a fair weather friend... however this is strictly due to direct orders from my doctor & my analyst !

because we won 2010 it doesn't bother me that much especially as we were smacked with injuries and under prepared players at the end of the year so we just had poor luck.
Caught bits of the doco with the Cats players talking as it was playing, rubs off as arrogant tossers for sure. The bit where Swan marked the ball and it was disallowed and then the boundary throw in where Jolly knocked it over and Bartel got the goal, f**** commentary by the Cats players at that bit was s*** house.

There is literally only ONE way I could bring myself to watch the GF 2011.

As part of a premiership marathon where I watch the 2010 Flag, 2011 loss and 2012 flag.

That's it. So unless we win it this year, I will never ever watch the 2011 GF ever again. Being there was bad enough.

I also put myself through this bit of torture and watched the special version with Cats player commentary. Certainly a few of the players came off as arrogant like Scarlett, but I thought Chris Scott was excellent & gave some great insights. It gave me some answers but also raised some questions.

Probably the one thing that surprised me most was how much we did change our game plan. To go in and play contested one on one footy and basically abandon the press & our boundary line tactics to a degree seems a big risk. It certainly surprised Chris Scott, but did not overly worry him as they were always going to play their way no matter what.

This change certainly seemed to work for 3 quarters, but in the end, as Pendles said after the GF, their bigger bodies were too much for us playing this style. It also opened the game up to be more free & high scoring - Geelong is so dangerous & potent when free wheeling that this favoured them. I am still confused as to why we didn't stick to our guns & play our way. Perhaps the 3 games before this prompted the change as we were struggling. Still, I would love to hear from MM or other assistant coach why this was done.

We certainly had them concerned in the second quarter, we were not far from putting a big break on them (disturbingly like the first St K GF 2nd Q) we missed our chances and let them in. Late goals to their senior players showed experience is invaluable. Two goals the other way & we are 5 goals up at half time. Scott admitted luck plays a big part with the Swan mark & jolly hit out causing a Bartel goal -this was a match turner IMO.

The other things that stood out was our insistence Didak go to Scarlett, another surprise to Scott but one they weren't worried about. I still can't quite get that one. Dids was never going to compete in the air with him and Scarlett wasn't going to follow him outside 50. Leigh Brown IMO should have been the decoy to force Scarlett out of or wide of Cloke & Dawes area.

Ling cut out Swanny which was not really their plan until GF week. They felt Pendles was going to get touches regardless so tried to stop Swan. Most teams go the other way and try & stop Thomas or Pendles as their touches are more damaging so was a great move. Although Scott said it was disturbing that Pendles had 24 touches 4mins into the 3rd quarter. Kelly had a big part in slowing Pendles down after this.

Jolly in the end did a great job even though injured. It was an area they wanted to exploit but never really did as Jols still competed well. West was potentially a game breaker as he could have ran off Jolly, but he never made an impact.

As I was saying for most of last year, we weren't playing our press at all last year. Wasn't just in the Grand Final.

The reason for that will probably never be known unless Bucks comes out and says why.

Personally, I still have my 'pessimist' hat on and say that Mick didn't want to win 2 flags with Nathan's gameplan. Pride is one of the best and worst human qualities unfortunately.

It was on Foxtel before the Fox Footy station opened, and I couldnt watching. And I had switched it on during the first quarter when Trav was ripping them apart with those epic goal. Even then I had to turn it off.

Watching that 2hours doco thing was really uncomfortable as well.

Bring on 2012 :)

I watched the 2 hour thingy on channel 7. pretty tough to watch but shows us how hard it is to go back to back. hopefully it makes the boys even more determined. before the game i contemplated if we lost and thought because we werent favourites it wouldnt hurt as much. but it hurt way more to me. it was a nightmare of a game. from our dominance halfway through the second quarter through to reid not being able to keep up with hawkins...i still have nightmares about that game
