if we spank the dees next weekend sydney beat the cats ,could well be a home final v the roos in week 1 of the finals

a) whether West Coast are 4th or 5th
b) whether Geelong beat Sydney, or open the door to us overtaking them.
c) how much North beat GWS by and hence what kind of margin we need to win by to overtake them.

The only other thing of relevance is Collingwood v Essendon, but you'd have to assume that Collingwood will win there.

If this year has taught me anything, it is that nothing can be assumed! I'm now confident that it doesn't matter where or when for freo any more. If anything we almost play better at Etihad with our high pressure game plan. We are as much chance of 6th as we are 8th which is a good return from the H&A season. Reckon we have played 4 games of finals like intensity in the last month and have controlled 3 of them. bring on September!!!!!!!

But I have a lingering feeling that we won't have a first week of finals derby, for some reason (Maybe it just sounds to good to actually happen!!!!).

Also given our points against are quite low compared to north we don't have to beat the demons by as much as they beat gws.

Basically we get more percentage per point with our winning margin.

The way we've dealt with both teams, either would be preferable to Geelong.

I know this sounds strange. I rather face West coast in the 1st round of the finals and heres why...

1. We can beat West coast and For all the verbal crap they have given to us, they wont bear it if they lose to us in the finals. Eagles fans were expected to see their team get top 4 and win the flag this season.It wont happen.

2. Keep this in Mind West coast Face the Hawks at the MCG next week. Eagles will lose and Magpies will steal 4th spot when they beat Essendon. West coast will be weakened traveling to Melbourne and returning to Perth smashed up with injuries. While freo Play at Subi vs the demons. If Freo do grab 8th spot we dont have to travel in the 1st week of the finals!

3.Yes I was impressed on how we beat North today. But next week North will grab 7th spot again as they will smash GWS by 90 points and Freo will belt Melbourne by 40.

It would certainly be in our interests for Sydney to beat Geelong by as much as possible. Even if we finish 7th, we'd be much better off playing Norf than Geelong in Melbourne.

Theres a binding agreement with MCC with at least one final to be played at MCG if a victorian team has the rights, each week during the final series.
