I'm fed up with all this Mick Malthouse crap. Seriously this guy is only interested in coaching again to get back at Collingwood. Sorry pal, you're not going to use us, we need to use our brains here and go after a guy who has instilled a decent culture and proven he can actually coach. It's clear to me he's lost the plot and if it wasn't for an errant bounce he wouldn't even be considered.

Mick's greatest game plan got found out after one season by a guy coaching his first season. Says it all really.

Paul Roos is the far better option, he will be around longer, he will enforce a hard work ethic amongst the group, he knows how to spot talent (look at Sydney's recycled players and how well they've developed) and he will not tolerate lacklustre performances. We need to throw the kitchen sink at him.

His AA midfield team for 2012 consisted of hard at it players that will not take a backward step to winning the ball, here's a guy who knows what to look for in a team.

Roos comes from having been successful at a club with a good culture, one he helped create I might add. Get Roos and if Scarlett retires, he needs to be an assistant coach.

Trust me, you bring those 2 in and then we will be successful and we can look forward to a dynasty.

Can't get a coach that's not available.

He has said on record that he will consider coming back to coaching in 2014 when his son has completed his studies. Absolutely 0% chance of him coaching Carlton or any other AFL team in 2013.

Pass on getting any of the great white hopes in. .. Lets do the proper process, interview and hand the job to the best candidate. .. If Roos and Malthouse want to apply for the role (the club can invite them to apply) they can and we should then consider them. ..

James Hird said he wouldn't coach either. We should try and talk to him, Sticks also mentioned him I believe so I wouldn't say 0% chance. We should make him an offer he can't refuse.

Sticks said they'll chase an experienced coach, which other options are out there?

That was coming back to Bomberland land though, and with Bomber Thompson joining.

I'll make it clear, I don't expect it to happen, I'm pretty sure the deal with Malthouse was struck a while ago, but it's what I think we should do instead of wasting our time with Mick.

Was wondering when a Roos thread would bob up. Well done,Tanks. I agree, I'd love him too.
Yes, looks very unlikely but could be the biggest smokey of all time :thumbsu:

Matthews... get Matthews in as the head coach.

He would turn the club around in a season unlike Mick who would take at least 2.

Been out of the game way too long, Barassi showed that it cant be done when he coached Sydney.

It's Malthouse's job if he wants it, going on the presser today. Threads like this are plain silly. Makes the OP look rather bitter and blaming MM. To suggest Roos, makes me wonder if some really have a clue?

Plain silly is having a go at people for opinions on what they want, particularly when some have even said they don't think it will happen. Most of us have a clue as to how to talk to people with some respect.

My favourite Dick-ism...get the best, not the best available (strangely, we didn't adhere to this when he was with us). If Roos is the best we should be bashing on his door.

You mean like threaten him?

I guess it might work. What if he says no, do we have to go through with it. Other perspective coaches might think we've lost our nerve......

Lol no, not threaten the guy, just give him an offer that would be too hard to say no to. It's probably what we've done with Mick tbh.

I think it's silly to want a coach that has made it known he dislikes our club. He is one guy i don't want, we would be subjected to dull defensive style of football.

Is that the royal "most of us"? Please point out where i have disrespected anyone? The vitriol directed to anyone that wasn't part of the keep ratts brigade, was very disrespectful. I learned a long time ago, that insulting someone that is basically just words on a vdu is pretty pointless. Make out of that what you may.
