in reality he's been screwing us for years...the expansion teams have probably cost us a flag...imagine if we'd had bock and davis in the team on prelim day? we would've won the flag this year for sure....but the AFL don't give a shit about us....we've already copped it royally from them...they'll take all our draft choices for the next few years and that'll hurt plenty...set us back years...or should I say set us back even more years than the expansion teams already have
Thats fine we can languish at the bottom of the ladder for years and let the AFL prop up the club

Listening to Emma Quayle on 5AA and I reckon this could unravel and turn into a bit of a beat up...she's not impressive at all......

she hasn't seen anything personally...she's only been told about it by ONE person....it didn't say on the email 'don't tell the AFL' it was just the gist of it.....she hasn't spoken to Tony Tippett....she doesn't answer much...she actually admitted that Crones and Rowey knew more than her after they told her that Trigg and Reid had to fly up to the GC and then Tipett's team kept adding to the contract....not impressed with her at all....this could blow up in the AGE's face

very very unimpressed with her...she doesn't even have an idea what team kurt will end up on....heck clearly it's not hard to get a gig at THE AGE

I reckon the final insult is going to be Tippet going to the Swans in the PSD. I wouldn't be to cocky with the Sydney mongs. I really cant see anyone else forcing this bloke of all people to their club against his will. As usual the AFL will simply sit back and watch Tippet manipulate his way to the club of his choice. He is under no obligation to even meet with any other club to talk contracts, medicals or anything else.
No guarantee Sydney won't pull out .....they may not wish to have the association & focus next season that this will bring with it.

Will be interesting the terms he puts on his head ......IMO anyone of 6 clubs have ability AND DESIRE

Would you take him knowing that he didnt want to be there. What sort of output would you expect from him?
If he puts 4 years as part of his package ......guess what ? .....he'll have to learn to love the club ...no choice

No, but the total payments minimum for AFL players is salary cap * 95% * 18 (+ additional allowances for GWS/GC/Syd). If you suddenly chop 5-10% out of one club, some players are getting paid less. The AFLPA won't like that.

It may be we have to trade/renegotiate down to 95 in year one and 90 in years 2-X. Would be a hell of a penalty.

Does it not strike anyone else as strange that Trigg was on leave overseas up until last week? Either he planned the trip himself hoping all this would fly under the radar or perhaps was told to take a vacation...

I know for a fact this trip was planned at least as early as December LAST year for his 50th birthday.

who's a lawyer here ? Could the AFC argue duress ?? "He threatened to leave if we didnt agree to it"
I haven't done contract law few a few years, but from memory duress is determined by the vulnerability of the person arguing the defense of duress. In an employer/employee situation, the vulnerable party is the employee 99% of the time. As a powerful, well resourced football club, which had the opportunity to simply trade tippett if his contract demands were deemed unreasonable, I doubt we would ever be able to argue duress.

this is going to be the factor that ensures he goes to sydney...his dad/manager will ring the other clubs and say 'don't draft him"...and the other clubs will go right...this guys a ******** it's too hard...let him go
If there was any doubt ......THIS IS DEFINITELY DRAFT TAMPERING ......with all the heat & focus he wouldn't dare contact any club

Tippetts deregistration could easily be extended ......no club & no income

So?

I'm sure he'd also know the AFL trade period will be in the early part of October for the past 3 years, the duration of Kurt Tippett contract.

People are allowed to go on holidays but how about pick a much more appropriate time to travel.

They have stated they still want him. Gonna cost nothing more than a PSD pick. Be real.

KT would only be in breach if he knew of the existence of the outside contract. You've stated that it's "completely inconceivable" that he had no knowledge of it. I beg to differ. I think it's very possible, given that it appears to have been concocted by his father & player manager.
Yes but why would they keep it a secret from Kurt .......if his concern was getting home surely knowledge of the agreement would have put him at ease

He may have been told the agreement was legal ....thus why he signed the player contract

His trip was planned to be back in time for the final week of trade week. It's 2012 not 1954 FFS. He was only ever a phone call away.

then I wonder if we can/should be punished then? debatable....

does it make a difference? don't all 3rd party deals all have to be disclosed to the afl. from what i have read so far, none of them were, regardless of whether we paid anything or would have gone over the cap. there was a secret deal, outside of the contract lodged with the afl, whether signed or not signed, if so then we, kurt and blucher have breached afl rules.

i can't see any way out of that for him, blucher and us. the only party in the room guaranteed to come out without afl penalty is kurts father as he has no relationship whatsoever with the afl. i presume that the other clubs aren't at any risk. however, i'd be curious to know whether clubs, players etc have a duty to disclose any knowledge of anything that may contravene afl rules.

i don't read every page, so i may have missed something here. here's hoping.

I think they will argue they would have included the underwritten third party arrangements in the Salary Cap if it came to that. So we will get done for not disclosing the contract? What a **** up. Why try and hide it? Reidy is a moron, and Triggy must go. Surely losing Tippett for nothing will form part of the punishment.

So why did it take 3 weeks before they went to the AFL and why was he needed to be in person to add his impute - if he was only a phone call away?

You shouldn't really be commenting on this as you can not look at it objectively and often get it wrong as you won't look at the facts. You have said in the past this would never happen and anyone who believed it was wrong.

How is she going to know? There's so much to play out in this yet.. Will he be de-registered? Will he be allowed to nominate a price? - which is what she said.. And that it's all very raw..

She seemed fine to me, confident in her source and is a trusted source.. Did a lot of checking on the info and then felt it was right to go with.. She is usually on the money..

What extra 200k?

All the AFC have done is said that they would underwrite $200k of sponsorships. If he had $200k+ of sponsorship money each year, then the AFC wouldn't have been out of pocket by a single cent.
I didn't mean that AFC needed to pay anything out, but his total income was increased by that amount - surely he noticed that?

We'll see ...i am not as confident and have always seen GWS as the smokie ....this is Sheedy's cup of tea

That's too late.

It's a bit like stealing a chocolate bar from Coles, having the money in your pocket and getting caught. You still have to face the police and answer criminal charges.

You can not go back and give them the money as if nothing happened. You still have to face the penalties of the rules you broke.

Totally agree. Idiots.
