Pick of the young guns

Wines is bloody impressive for his age. Good size, outstanding attitude, footballer not just an athlete etc. We've got a real prospect with Ollie and I can see him being a long term Port Adelaide player.

Wingard just has something that you can't define. It's more than his attitude or his skills. Just a sense that this kid is destined to be a champion footballer.

Norwood and State ruckman Neil Button was from Murray Bridge. 283 games (1971-85), 3 premierships, 9 state games, Norwood life member and team of the century.

The other player who doesn't get much of a mention is Aaron Young. I thought he showed some good glimpses last year. I'm hoping he can step it up even more this year. He was especially good in the last few games last year in particular the Richmond game

Your right, young does look promising

I look at young like i looked at broadbent a couple of years back, that one of these years he will have a breakout year and start to be a gun. Saying that i dont think it will be next year, hopefully Young plays 10-15 games next year so that in 2014 he can have a breakout year.

Thanks to Collingwood 4 eternity on the legendary Hamish McLachlan thread page 127 on the main board for the GIF.

Wingard is the guy you will come home from the footy thinking how much he influenced the game, Wines is the guy you will come away from watching the replay thinking how much he influenced the game.

Great complementary combo, between them I hope they tear teams apart.

Sammy c really needs to step up over the next few years and be the player we should have gotten for Jacobs.

I really wish we took the pick 37 and delisted salter or blee. At least then we could have not been so negative towards jacobs.

If Sam Colquhoun retires tomorrow, I'd still rather have him than Ben Jacobs.

If Wingard had been played in the midfield last year and not hidden away in the forward pocket he would have won the Rising Star award.
I don't have too many issues with him playing in a pocket, and occasionally creeping into the middle. Ablett Jnr started in a similar fashion. I do however have a problem with him starting as a sub! 2-3 times last year. Stupid decision.

As mentioned elsewhere, you can pick a better player than Ben Jacobs with any pick in any draft. I'm just not that in to him. We are never, ever getting back together.

Best player ever out of Murray Bridge already.
I reckon Adam Thompson was the only other one?
There's also Neil Hein, Brett Lienert, John Richter, and a few others who have played SANFL footy.

As was mentioned though, Neil Button would be the best of the lot.

I should have said in the AFL sorry.
Grant Tanner came from Jervois just out of Murray Bridge.
I played footy against John Richter and he certainly wasn't the best player at Imperials but dedication can take you a long way.
Neil "Nugget " Hein played for the same club as me but a couple of years older. He was a great bloke.Skinny as a bean pole and the most unlikely footballer imagineable.
