Don't think you have the Essendon heritage from a few weeks ago up.
This one?

The PC with the connection to the website is the one connected to ADSL, so it's down.
I am on a laptop.
I just need to upload the revised Promo Jumper page to the site

Looks great.

Hopefully other teams follow so that you can updated their respective logo pages.

Mero any chance you could put the round no. it was worn in the description box for the promotional one off jumpers?

No, I only do jumpers from official games. That was an exhibition match, in the same manner as the jumpers from the Olympics.
(Which I have done, but only for the purposes of illustrating here)

I think we had this argument five years ago, but surely it was 'as official' as the state of origin matches.

Apparently not.
It was the AFL Hall of Fame Tribute Match, not State of Origin.
Let's face it, it would take me 5 minutes to do, so it's not laziness, it was just not an official AFL game.
it has less status in the game than a dead rubber NAB Cup game.

It's still counted as an 'official match' towards life membership the way NAB Cup games are.

I am only going on what the AFL announced at the time of the game.
It is not an official game, it is an exhibition game, and a showcase of talent.
It was deliberately not a State of Origin game

I know Hawks haven't been in the VFL/AFL since 1925 but where would they have worn these guernsey's? are they even real? I found this membership card from 1998 and realised there was a guernsey from 1873

Interesting, I thought the current incarnation was formed in 1902.

If it was 1873 then they should be celebrating 140 years this year along with St Kilda and Essendon.

From Wiki:

The official club history books and many supporters strongly believe that the club's origins date back to its founding in 1873 at a meeting at the Hawthorne Hotel.[2]
Although a Hawthorn Football Club did indeed form at this time – and the region has since continuously been represented by a football team – it was not the Hawthorn which competes at AFL level today. It is likely that today's club is actually the third club to carry the name "Hawthorn Football Club". In The Daily Telegraph of 12 May 1883 it is stated that "The Hawthorn Club having disbanded, all engagements for the ensuing season have been cancelled." In 1889 the Riversdale Football Club (formed in 1880) is reported to have changed its name to the Hawthorn Football Club. This club also ceased in 1890. No Hawthorn club existed from 1890 to 1892.
A new representative club, called the "Hawthorn Football Club", was formed in 1893. It competed in the Victorian Junior Football Association until 1898. Without a ground to play on, however, the club was disbanded in 1899.

Yeah so it's not the same team.

That's what I reckon. Interesting how the club thinks otherwise though. I guess an extra 39 years of history does make you sound more important

If they thought that now I'm sure they would have celebrated 140 years this year.

Perhaps. I don't know why Essendon and St Kilda have gone all gung-ho with the 140 years thing though. What makes it more special than 130 years? Or 120? Why not just go with 125 and 150, which the Hawks may do?

Port's 140 celebration was shit. Lost in the absolute worst of circumstances. Home game, 16K crowd, pouring rain, shitty contest against 16th placed Richmond who hadn't yet won a game and we somehow managed to lose 30 to 77. Dark, dark, horrible day.

The other interesting thing about those milestones is that I believe all evidence points to Melbourne's 150th anniversary occurring in 2009, yet they did so in 2008. Their logo also states "Est. 1858".

so what you're saying SJ and Gibbsy is that there is another Hawthorn Football Club that we basically "stole" just to get extra years of recognition? because I've never seen anything Hawthorn pre 1900.

I did find this very interesting though, I've emailed the club asking them to update it

Yeah, the Hawthorn we have today is different from the other clubs called Hawthorn in the late 1800s.
There was also a Collingwood club playing in the 1880s before the 1892 Collingwood we know and love, and a Richmond before 1885, which is the formation date of the current Tigers.
