Watch Dogs hits Xbox One and PS4 later this year when the next gen consoles hit store shelves. If recent reports are to believed however, the Xbox One version might be the way to go. Watch Dogs producer Dominic Guay has stated that Watch Dogs on the Xbox One will have a more dynamic city than the PS4.

"We're still very much in the R&D period, that's what I call it, because the hardware is still new," Guay said. "It's obvious to us that it’s going to take a little while before we can get to the full power of those machines and harness everything. But, even now we realise that both of them have comparable power, and for us that’s good, but everyday it changes almost. We’re pushing it and we’re going to continue doing that until [Watch Dogs] ship date."

Mr. Guay continues, "So suppose you were an AI, and the decision to make you move was run elsewhere. There would be the same latency," he continued. "If you think about it, it's not different than you holding the controller when you're playing multiplayer. It might allow someone to use one dedicated machine just for on AI. What kind of AI could I do with that? That's interesting."

He then goes on to mention Microsoft’s cloud service that seems like it will be a crucial component to the Xbox One stating, “Physics calculations, similarly, aren't dependent on strict timing. The way a tree reacts to weather, it's physics, right?" Guay went on. "It's bending materials. Well, what if I could run that on the cloud? It doesn't need to be fully synced. There are occasions where there will be an advantage, but it's clear in the short term there's plenty of power within the machines. That's where our engineers are working."

In addition to those comments Mr. Guay went on to talk a bit about the graphics and the “dynamism” of the city. Here is what he had to say:

"For example, we’re able to simulate the water in full 3D, if you go on a boat the waves that form will affect other boats. We’re also able to spend more time giving brains to the other people on the streets so that they can basically be smarter, and there can be more of them. It’s what I call dynamism; basically, the way the city reacts to you, we are able to push further on the Xbox One.”

The original article

http://www.nowgamer.com/news/198718...f_those_machines_says_watch_dog_producer.html

that last paragraph seems as if its comparing this gen to next gen in terms of what they can do, because theres no mention of PS4 i'm guessing the writer of the gaming target article took it as the X1 version will be the only one with those features.

Linked in the comments was this though

http://www.polygon.com/2013/6/12/4424022/sony-shuhei-yoshida-says-ps4-cloud-computing-calculations

Sony have had Gakai for a while now, cloud computing may be available on launch with the streaming games side of things coming in 2014, guess we'll have to wait and see.

Best Buy has exhausted its stock of Xbox One pre-orders and is no longer accepting online purchases. Best Buy’s product page for Xbox One notes that the console is “Sold Out Online” and currently does not allow customers to complete a purchase for the system.

For now, Xbox One is still available for pre-order on Amazon as well as Wal-Mart, Target and GameStop.

This follows news yesterday that GameStop sold out of PlayStation 4 pre-orders, though other retailers (including Best Buy) are currently still allowing PS4 orders to be placed. We’ve reached out to Microsoft and Best Buy to find out if stock will be replenished and will update this story with any comment we receive.

I don't buy any of this sold out stuff.

I'm sure anyone will be able to find a console on day one and will be able to put their name down at a range of stores to get a console.

It's a great marketing ploy to get people worried they'll miss out and get in their wallets earlier.

??????????
Certain stores have stopped taking pre orders, how is it a marketing tool?
I'm sure if someone is trying to throw money at me i'm not going to bullshit them and say bad luck, we're out of our allocation, and risk them going elsewhere just to ramp up more business for a product that is clearly going strong as is.

I'm just not buying it - 5 months until release and already stopping pre-orders, no way.

I'm sure MS/Sony will up the quota - if they legitimately can't sell any more pre-orders then that's very poor forecasting from the company involved.

Anyway saw this article

I hope it allows you to give the finger to the guy who kills you and your character imitates.

I think you may be underestimating how many consoles they have to actually produce to cover a release in 20 odd markets simultaneously

No retailer would stop taking orders if they still had stock to sell

Bunch of rumours going around that MS is getting feedback from developers about an increase in GPU clock speed and 12GB of RAM.

I doubt anything major will change this close to launch though.

So a nice price increase would be on the cards then? Zero chance of such an increase in RAM at least.

Have read that the X1 dev kits have 12GB. I've also read that they did a similar thing with the 360s RAM not long before it launched.

Overclocking the gpu is possible though even then it wont match the ps4 flops so risking over heating is senseless, however if the rumor of heating issues being under control than the gpu difference would only be about 20% and not the 50%, adding more ram this close to launch wont happen. Highly doubt either Sony or Microsoft would be touching spec this far in last time that happened it wasnt pretty.

Whether the work of PS4 fanboy trolls or an ardent Xbox One advocate, someone has opened a petition to “Give us back the Xbox One we were promised at E3.” That means restoring all of the DRM, the online checks, all of the stuff that made Xbox One the most execrable abomination to all of mankind until it reversed course a week later.
A strange counterpoint advocacy for Xbox One’s more restrictive controls sprouted up after they were taken away. (Yes, in my sports column, I even pointed out how the system could have benefitted sports video gamers in the long run. I still stand by those thoughts.) Some of those talking points are echoed in the very, very brief statement of purpose:
This was to be the future of entertainment. A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses. Essentially, it was Steam for Xbox. But consumers were uninformed, and railed against it, and it was taken away because Sony took advantage of consumers’ uncertainty.

I never saw the issues with the original product. Myself being connected to the internet all the time like most of society I would imagine. I still think one person thought it wasn't a good idea then everyone jumped on board and it gave people a chance to bitch about something.

Some concepts for the X1:

One or two of those sketches look very similar to the PS4, one of the sketches also looks like it went on to become the new 360 slim.

Yep it was only one person who had a problem with it, it was just dem Sony fan boi's that were jealous of such a solid product . Me and many others will now buy a xbox one due to the back flip but if you have no problems with signing a blood pact I'm not one to judge.

There's no doubt that a lot of people jumped on the MS hate bandwagon (I'm talking about the people that never intended to buy the next gen xbox not the people that were genuinely upset with the policies) but in saying that MS didn't do themselves any favours with the crappy ways they described the features/policies.

Well those "non genuine" people just made up for the billions of people that don't have the net and were unable to voice there disappointment.

Just as many dumb people buying the the xbox one regardless of what Microsoft where doing

So people are dumb because they liked the direction MS was taking?

Think you'll find it's more the opposite of what you put in your brackets there. Which is the main reason MS did the 180.

They changed their policies because it was 360 buyers that were changing their minds and going for the PS4.

Billions of people?

I'm sure there are billions in the world without net, for that i have no doubt. But how many of them would be buying a console? I mean its not like people in poverty stricken consoles would go and buy one....

I think it more affected people like troops overseas, miners (or people living in remote areas) etc

It was a 1 mega bit update that could be done from a mobile phone if needed
