Yes very true. Crowley is a nuisance not a footballer, and what he does is almost cheating. He doesn't outplay an opponent , he annoys them to distraction. His days may be numbered , he should be monstered by all other clubs now. The rule for his type of player is if your not good enough to beat them put Crowley on them and he'll just hammer them , and forget about the football. Probably as annoying a person as there is in the comp, including Ballantyne, but Crowley can't play football like Ballantyne that's the difference.

Ablett's post - "Crowley is a joke! Play the ball, not the man! That's why Lingy was such a great player he ran both ways! #givejuddafreekick" - was displayed at halftime of the Fremantle-Carlton telecast, which Ablett was watching.

Asked if he backed away from the comment, Ablett said last night: "No. Not at all.

"What I was criticising is that he was playing the man and not the ball, which I think is unfair.

"Of course, I understand that coaches send players out to stop good players.

"But I think there's a lot of grabbing, holding and that sort of stuff that goes on when players are away from the ball, and it's hard for the umpires to see and to stop. But it's frustrating that a player like Chris Judd has to endure that sort of treatment.

Hey Cotch, sure you are entitled to your opinion but you are making a fool of yourself and I am embarrassed for you. Yes we all agree that all clubs have taggers but Crowley takes it to another level. He is rarely even watching the ball and is always just playing the man. What he is doing is not football and it is a blight on the game.

Maybe you wish your best midfielders were free to run unhindered all day, but that's not football. Have you played football? The toughest defenders, and your best fullback have always played the man. Teams have always given tagging jobs in the midfield to nullify the best opposition players.

Curnow blanketed Hill without resorting to the tactics Crowley has to. Crowley even using all his dirty tactics was still beaten by Murphy.

Listen Grandstan I really do not need you to come on here and patronize me. Unless you are actually Matthew Pavlich I don't see the need to answer your question. To put Crowley in the category of anything else but an utter shit stain would be a travesty of justice. There are no other players in the league who act like he does. He does not play with integrity and flaunts the rules due to his lack of talent. He will be remembered as one thing and one thing only. A shit footballer who was incredibly lucky to get a game. No one likes him and he must battle to look himself in the mirror most mornings.

Crowley is so over the top that the impression of him is simple. He's better at harrasing and spoiling and elbowing and niggling and just plain being a smart arsed mongrel, as opposed to being a competent footballer.
Last years grand final he was told to stop Mitchell, it was planned by Hawthorn for Sam to do a job on Crowley, not by shadow, he didn't have to worry about that because Crowley would be all over him, and next to him.So Sam out played Crowley and by being as dangerous a player for Hawthorn at the same time. It worked , Crowley may have taken the stat number down a bit on Sam Mitchell, but Sam did his job on and Crowley was an "easy " nuisance for Sammy.

It worked , Crowley ineffective.

My point being Crowley is just that , a nuisance , his contribution to a football match is stopping an opponent who is too good, from having influence on the game.
Tagger tactics to the limit , are ruining some games and letting lower skilled , perhaps not very good footballers get names for just being holders and abusers and if there is a prize for that Crowley is champion , but he is no footballer.

Not like Ballantyne who can win a game of his boot.
Crowley could do no worse padlocking the opposition player he's given, in the club room tiolet. Ha ha.Then he could sit on the bench and drink coffee.

Taggers like Crowley & Macaffer make their team play with only 21 players. They may try to take an opposition player out of the game, but they provide nothing offensively.

Unlike Curnow & to a lesser extent Carrazzo who outrun their opponent and try to work off them and hurt them the other way. Curnow did that too Ablett last year. He's handy for goal sometimes too.

Yes and I wonder how many WCE or Freo people would regard Tony Liberatore's tactics on Ben Cousins a few years back , really hard and mean and not football. Difference once again is Liber could play the game. But his tagger tactics were very very questionable , and that is the point, as said above he rarely watches the ball, just the victim, if that's football , well we all may as well take up the Sydney rugby pack style and tackle roll and stop, and forget the footy skills forever.
"SUPER" taggs are no better than putting a horseshoe in your glove, its cheating.

This is the thing. At the end of most players careers they can look back with pride at some of the things they did. One day Crowley will be sitting on his front porch thinking about his career...remember the day I got Ablett in a headlock behind play. Or the day I did not touch the football all day, just stood with my back to it manhandling Cotchin. The day I got 3 weeks for belting Harvey behind play. Yep, it will be a bloke who can really look back on his career with pride! Ryan Crowley, I salute you!

Crowley will look back on a best and fairest, his 100+ goals and playing an important role for his team. And the people who matter the most to him - his coaching staff and his team's supporters - will be proud of him for it.

On the matter of integrity, I'd be fascinated to hear more about this 3 week suspension you refer to.

He is doing a job for the coach. He used to not tag and sometimes he got a fair bit of the ball sometimes he didn't. Ross wants him to tag in that way. If he resorts to dirty tactics then the umps should penalise him.
