Watch again some of Grif's efforts in the final games, around us comments were made about how he was trying to beat a number of players as he did years ago and the team part of his play was down. There was a noticeable change from his earlier games as captain.

You have to be joking with your last sentence, all of these players will be suffering for the rest of their life due to the stresses they have placed on their body. Minson, Boyd and Morris are three of the most physical players in the team, Cooney well we know what has happened there.

It's amazing so many people who think our list is utter crap also blame the coach for not making that crap a top 8/top 4 side.

Whether Macca's way works or not - there doesn't seem to be much scope for mentally fragile players on the list, which means some players who are best 22 (Higgins is, and for all Jones' faults he normally is too) are on the outer.
Whoever the next coach (and nobody coaches forever) will be secretly lighting nightly candles to the shrine of B-Mac for the list he'll inherit.

I think it's unkind to advocate getting rid of mattdougie.... And then to call for him to be beheaded is unrealistic and unreasonable. Even if I do have him on ignore, it's not right....

You really do live up to your name.
The coaches / list manager are finally showing some balls and forcing out the ordinary players that either don't have the talent or the mental toughness to play the type of footy that will set the club up for sustained success.

Exactly. When his time is up as our senior coach, it may not be the most positionally balanced list in the AFL, but it'll be a group of 42 players that pretty much every other senior coach would want to bring into their teams.

Collingwood lost Beams & Lumumba & just had Clarke tell them no.
Beams is better than Higgins, Jones & Tutt combined.

Nobody is pretending B-Mac is the best coach in the AFL, but a wise poster once said "things are never as bad - or as good - as they seem" and that seems to sum up our current predicament.

because they are shit players that aren't mentally strong enough to play in a grand final and have no room in our club.
Get draft picks, bring in new talent that will shape our side and help push us for a flag

Higgins, injury prone, bad 1-1 defender, not even top 22 in a top 4 side.
Jones- doesn't work hard enough to learn how to become a great forward, runs under the ball, doesn't tackle or chase, kick 3 goals in a grand final in which two were free kicks.
Tutt- shits himself while under pressure, imagine him in a grand final, he would be killed in 10 mins.

All are gone because they don't fit the club needs or wants and thank goddness they are gone. bring in fresh/mature talent to change the list.

Macca brought all those players into the club by selecting a type of person they want at the club.

He's game style is contested football which is key to winning grand finals once the youth get more games under their belts.

Pearce is unhappy at being offered a Rookie contract. Higgins wanted an extra year on his contract, we didn't hence he's being forced out rather than leaving. Jones is the only player that has actually left that we wanted to keep.

What the GF taught me was that tough, uncompromising contested football, combined with positional flexibility, good footskills and decision making beats a massive salary cap advantage. We are slowly heading down this path.... Need more footskills and leg speed though - plus a few more KPP's.

He has some serious balls as our coach, prepared to let players go if they aren't mentally tough.

Higgins, Jones, Tutt, etc - each of these players have been consistently inconsistent - caused by being unable to consistently mentally apply themselves.

To each of them, good luck, but good riddance. Nonetheless, it takes great strength of character to cut the list deep.
