franchises actually on the rise....versus.....franchises continuing to promise to be on the rise.....

On the rise
Dolphins, Jaguars, Titans, Raiders, Vikings, Buccaneers

Promises, promises
Bills, Jets, Browns, Texans, Chiefs, Redskins, Bears, Rams, Cardinals

Some contentious choices there.

Bottom-line, on the rise are teams specifically with a young franchise QB there, given 2-3 years to acclimate himself, a recent rookie, and have pieces of talent forming around him, ideally with a stable coaching staff, especially where the head coach is in his second stint as a HC (meaning he's learned from his mistakes the first time around, etc).

While the second group....are teams already loaded with talent, especially on defense, but are lacking that young franchise QB, or, that loaded defense is going to start getting old soon or move on to other teams and have wasted efforts trying to find that franchise QB or no matter what they do still can't get it right. Tho, if any of them do find one soon, they can suddenly be on the rise as they tick most other boxes. Example...Bills.

Can you please explain how the Titans are on the rise? Their roster is devoid of any serious or even semi serious talent.

And while we're at it the Jags have made some very poor decisions last few seasons on top of the crap decisions before that.

The Jaguars have had 2-3 bad years. How soon people forget, or only know what has been recently evident.
They fcvked up with Gabbert, but got it right with Bortles.
Give them 2-3 years, maybe 1-2, and they'll be playoff contenders.
They have a good smattering of talent on both sides of the ball.
The pieces are added little by little.
ON THE RISE...legitimately....they are.

As for the Titans...I'll get into that one a little later.

Don't confuse 'On the rise' with 'have hit rock bottom and their only way is up'.

Steelers acquired CB Brandon Boykin from the Eagles in exchange for a 2016 fifth-round pick.

One of the top slot corners in the league, Boykin is an immediate upgrade to a Pittsburgh secondary that ranked 27th against the pass last year. Boykin was undervalued by Chip Kelly for his lack of size, but still graded as a top-25 corner by PFF over 524 snaps last season. He's essentially a one-year rental for the Steelers. Boykin is owed $1.542 million in the final year of his contract. He turned 25 early last month.

hmm, didn't see that one coming & 5th round seems a little light, what you up to now Chipstero_O

edit -
The 5th round pick the #Eagles will receive can be as high as a 4th round pick depending on playing time for Boykin this season, per source.

Boykin is now the 10th old Andy Reid player to have moved on from the Eagles this offseason:

On reflection perhaps this is a good sign that some of the players bought to the team this year are measuring up.

He will probably throw more INTs this year purely because he's more comfortable and confident in himself, the playbook, and the Raiders offensive potency. You know, slinging it around with more gusto will equal more INTs.

But that's ok, to have more vertical endeavor finally, and ideally see more TDs than INTs in the process.

Yep, you know the Raiders have hit rock bottom when their fans start making excuses before preseason
That's shell-shock......you see a comment made by one Raider one, and it feels like a thousand Raiders fans have spoken. You see one Raider fan, and it looks like a thousand angry Scots are charging into battle.

For those who wasted a pick on Kevin White in fantasy....

-----------

Bears coach John Fox insisted Saturday that first-round pick Kevin White (shin) is "making progress" while on the active/PUP list.

White is dealing with some sort of shin injury while also working to improve his cardio, which essentially means he's out of shape. "It’s fair to say he is doing (cardio work) at some level, some phase," Fox said. "He’s making progress." White has missed multiple practices now since Bears camp started.

Bortles?? The jury is well and truly out. This is a team that last year thought Toby Gerhart was capable of being a No 1 back!! Clueless.
