- Bolton. Talked about him being member of staff. Said there was protection in place for both the club and for Bolton. Hoping and confident it was an exhaustive recruitement process and we certainly see him being a long term coach for the club.

- Barker. Going to wait until after season finishes and then take a few weeks off to see where his feelings are really at. Said he is a strong character and would back him to go back into an assistant role, but will wait and see how he feels after a couple of weeks off.

- Treloar. Pretty much confirmed we are going to have a crack at him.

- Kreuz. We want to keep him at Carlton. Having SOS on board we know how much GWS offered him last time, and he knocked back huge $ before as he is an extremly loyal man, hoping he will do the same again this time, but will be Kreuz decision at the end of the day.

- Yarran. Didn't fill me with confidence. They played a clip of Yarran saying he wanted to stay at the Blues next year. Trigg said we needed players who were committed to the club, and put the club first. Said he had saw 'glimpses' of it from Yarran. Would be happy for Yarran to stay..... provided he has the right attitude.

- Cripps. When asked if we were trying to extend his contract he joked and said "yeah until he is 33.... we are going to put him on as a member as staff". Couldn't stop talking about his leadership, commitment. Said off his own bat that he deserves the rising star. Huge part of Carltons rebuild and future along with Graham, Buckley and Casboult. Also said the Irish boys and a few others are part of some new shoots of growth that we haven't really had a chance to see yet.

- Bolton very optimistic we have a good base to grow from.

- We have 'reset' Carlton. Finally getting the right people in the right places. Hopefully supporters can see all the new shoots of growth the club is going to grow from back into a powerhouse. Wants the supporters to come along for the ride
Thanks for that IBB

That's not how free agency works though, BBB - he's not up for auction to the highest bidder.

He could be offered $1mil per year for 5 years, and still accept 3 years at $400k from us if he wants to stay. It sounds like we're offering a deliberately low contract to try and encourage him to leave, hence netting us a band 1 compo pick. Not sure if that is definitely the case, but that's my read on it. We can get him at well below market value, because he wants to be a Blue - but the club is testing the water to see if there's someone willing to pay enough to get us pick 3 in return.
I love Kruzer and hope he stays at the club and gets a good run injury-free to really show his ability - hes shown plenty this year back but imagine a couple of years ( and pre-seasons) free of injury in partnership with Cripps.

That aside, I hope Sos and the club are looking at the big picture. I read somewhere that SOS will bring a more modern data analytical focus to list management and I believe this is critical. Its good and well to love Kreuzers tackling, clearance work, second efforts and love for the club but there also has to be a $ where the benefit of pick 3 and Lycett/Smith/Currie is too great to refuse.

FWIW - I think he'll stay, he has always stated his love for the club and has knocked big offers before but this could be his last big contract and even if Matty is willing to take unders its his managers job to get him the best possible deal.

Pretty much no different to posters on here Dram.

Since when have you become part of the 'inner sanctum' and how do you know this as fact!

Has DVB hacked your account! :D
Pretty certain that it was Trigg who mentioned something about it on the radio a week or so ago. Said something along the lines that financial terms had been agreed, but they were negotiating over the length of the contract. And another contact I have said that the club was trying for the standard 2 year term, but Kreuzer wanted to set a contract that see's him playing in Navy Blue until the end of his contract (read that as being a 4 year contract).

The thing is, by all accounts Kreuzer was happy to sign with us halfway through the year for whatever we thought was fair. It's not a matter of us being gun-shy about the contract value - if we wanted him we could have had him for peanuts. We're the ones who decided to hold off and see what offers came his way, purely from a list management/free agency compensation angle.
Are you sure about that? From what has been said it was Kreuzer who wanted to wait until he returned from injury and the club was happy with this.

Yep, that was back at the start of the season, though. My understanding was that once he was back on the park 3 months ago that "discussions commenced", and he was happy to take what the club deemed appropriate (within reason). That being said, I don't have documentation of that, just what I recall from discussions back then.

What do you think Dramoth, you have been pretty sure he will stay but after hearing what Trigg said on radio this morning it has gone from Kreuzer absolutely being at Carlton next year to more being hopeful.
It's down to the length of the contract. If Kreuzer can't get the contract term he wants, he might walk... but I doubt it. He is a footballer who wants to play football for Carlton.

Even my stepdad, who is a mad Swans supporter, can't understand why the club... who only wants guys that want to play for the club and the jumper, are reluctant towards giving him a contract that will see him play out his days in Navy Blue.

If the club has suddenly balked at agreeing a contract with Kreuzer because he wants 4 years instead of two, then it is like they have decided that the club will get a band 1 compensation pick for him and aren't going to budge. If Kreuzer walks, then it is because the club has put him in that position.

However, if Kreuzer signs and plays every game for the next 2 years, I would expect the club to stump up a damned good contract for him in 2017.

What kind of compo could we get, Band 1? 2? Maybe we should poll...

Just kidding, you're valued Thy.

I'm okay with letting him go if it enables us to pick up Aaron Joseph.

Heard most of this stuff before.

Cheers. This is something that none of saw coming until a few weeks ago when Kreuzer made that remark to the media.
I can see it from the clubs point, he has had a terrible run with injuries, but he is so loved by the supporters that sometimes it is worth the risk. Losing Kreuzer will cost the club members I am sure of that.

I suspect that the backlash might cost them several thousand members... but considering that at times, the club just considers the rank and file members as a money well. Every year we stump up our cash for our memberships, buy new merchandise from the club shop and the club just seems to suck up the money.

It would be interesting to do a social media poll of Carlton members to see how many would not be renewing their membership if the club lets Kreuzer walk... and then send the results to the club.

Kreuzer wanted Carlton, Carlton wanted Kreuzer ... Carlton were not stalling to railroad the big guy for compo. The deal was getting done.

However we all know about rumours of massive offers coming in for him. The last couple of days may have been a game changer and now Kreuzer's future is very much up to him.

I wouldn't be ragging on the club over this and threatening memberships and so forth. Matty has the control here. He has limited time left in the game and has to weigh up what is best for him.
