Too bad the club has suggested otherwise. They expect a protracted negotiation.

I hope the protracted negotiations is US ensuring we get value for our pick 10. From what I've heard, Charlie has some fairly significant issues with his leg. Unless our medicos are 100% convinced that they can resolve Charles's problem leg relatively quickly, I dont want our pick 10 being used for a net return of just a suspect Charles. And I'm a huge Charlie Dixon fan.

I agree with your overall view. I would have thought giving pick ten or thereabouts is overs for him. Any more seems a waste.

I really hope for Charlie's sake we can come to terms with GC. If they want more than #10 for him I can see him staying or going to the PSD. He would not get to SA that way. Where SA is involved he puts himself at the mercy of both teams to come up with a reasonable trade. If someone wants to be traded to a Victorian team then if worst comes to worst he does not go to the club of his choice but is a lot more likely to be picked up by a Victorian club in the PSD.

Dixon nominating his price and entering the ND, I think we'll easily be able to grab him at #10.

Not ideal and such, but Gold Coast lose in a hard ball situation.

Talks of them wanting two firsts is tripe. At least make sure the player has been an AA or B&F winner before asking for that much.

id rather get him in the PSD. i really dont give a shit aout all this trying to do right by other clubs. get for the best price possible.

Just play the game. We will get him for a fair price, the Suns are already shopping our pick around for what they need so have a little faith. The PSD option isn't the best option as other clubs will get in before us. The deal will get done and we won't pay overs for him.

Too big a risk. He will be snapped up by another club
If we try to get him in the PSD, our pick will be likely to be better than 10 as some clubs who would have a higher pick may not be participating in the PSD.
However, like you, I would still prefer we trade. I could see Melbourne salivating at the prospect of having a tall forward to complement Jesse Hogan.

Charlie & his manager: 100% Port locked in.. Freo LOL

Port: Be patient guys.. relax by the pool Charlie, grab a beer(s) or a High-5 member & we'll give ya buzz when it's done

GC: Generic posture for more than the first rounder tick tock tick tock.. cave at some point (yay!!!)

PA fans/keyboard trade experts: Excitement tinged with subtle panic, 1000 permutations discussed, general jimmy rustling in time taken to seal deal omg!!! re-gather after melt, welcome aboard you bearded adonis.

Why are so many Port supporters so paranoid? The club hasn't let us down before....

Rubbish ... we wanted to pay the world for Gorringe last year dammit. :)

1st I've heard about a leg injury. What's the injury?

Unless you're talking about the ankles?

Good luck dealing with that club, or any other club in the future.

We need to be seen as a club who is good to deal with.

this is that part i dont get. People are still dealing with essendon now cos they cant their players. Last year the pies were shite to deal with over the beams deal, yet no-one holds a grudge.

when you have somehting of demand, then people are going to deal with you. We did pretty good by brisbane with the polec deal, but that dont mean brisbane are going to choose us to deal with over someone else. they will deal with whoever the player nominates.

The difference is that if we have what clubs want, they will deal with us...but if we become known as a club that puts players through lots of stress with PSD shit and last minute deals or failed deals, players will be less likely to take us seriously as a destination club.

Collingwood should have enormous ability to claim players, but they've played lowball games for so long most players would be reluctant to nominate them. By contrast we have spent the last 10 years developing a rep for actually getting deals done, even difficult ones (unlike the Cows), and each offseason now we are seeing the benefit of that when good players nominate us.

I don't think any player would nominate us cos we are good to deal with. Dixon has links with Ken, Ryder like the aboriginal program and chance of success, white was a free agent, polecat was a port supporter, ebert was an ebert.... Did I miss anyone?

Players only want to nominate clubs that close deals, otherwise they can be left high and dry at their current club with everyone knowing theyre halfway out the door - v unpleasant
