Why does this thread still have a rumour tag?

Pls watch, all those who have doubts about him being worth pick 10. 202cm, very athletic, excellent contested mark, leads to good spots, great goal sense, great skills for a big man. Pick 10 is a steal.

Amazing highlights really.

Considering he's kicked 90 odd goals only in his career, there must be conservatively at least 20 goals shown in those highlights and each one of them is special. The guy is powerful, agile and accurate. Now we just need to get more consistent output from him so that his goal average is closer to 3 per game and his game output is closer to 25 per year.

Like not playing him in the ruck, which will preserve his ankles too.

pick 10 is fair, not a steal. if he didnt have ankle issues then yes pick 10 is definitely a steal. but the ankle concerns are genuine.

And the fact Gold Coast want to get rid of him as well, it's not just Dixon asking for a trade

That goal average is only where it is because of his first four years which showed pretty ordinary returns, both because GCS couldn't get the ball to him all that often but because, as a new club they were working out where to play him. 41 goals in 16 games this year gives a better idea of where he's at as a forward but again you need to remember it was at a side not as attacking as Port. Shouldn't be too difficult to get that 2.56 up to 3 but it's just as important to keep him on the field for the whole season

Being totally impartial here of course but I think pick 10 is about right really for Charlie , it's probably slightly unders , maybe swap our second pick for their third ( theirs would be about 6 higher than ours ) .

Lol...

I always thought d stew copped it a "bit" harsh on here....until i seen that footage...

I will never forget his first and final game under Hinkley. He had less of an impact than Chris Knights, who severely injured his knee in the second quarter.

Didn't realise this.

You didn't realise it because it isn't true.

Ugh, I remember that game. Chris Knights literally scored a goal while in the process of tearing his ACL. Only Port.

This is a small highlights package from the Gold Coast's first two year's - the Suns put it out in August 2012 after he re-signed for 2 years. He was 20 when the Gold Coast debuted and turned 21 in September of 2011, so he was already over 100 kgs. Because he was from Far North Queensland town of Cairns (pop. about 120k) which is Rugby League heartland the general AFL recruiters didnt see much of him, but Gold Coast played a team in the VFL in 2010 and they picked him up as a zone selection in 2010 and put him on their inaugural year list. I remember liking him from the first time I saw him because he was so agile for a 100kg / 200cm player and thought why the **** cant we find somebody his size and ability?

Did I see a Tarp there at Gliderol? A tarp?

He makes the Sherrin look tiny.

IIRC a Jarrad Brennan from yesteryear used to do party tricks with one hand on the ball.
Charlie covers him easily. If our neighbours were gunna get him I'd be sliding in my pants.
As it is now if/when we get him Charlie Dixon is going to spook the living be'jesus out of them :D
and aint that a shame :rolleyes:. He'll have Talia looking like a toothpick trying to deal with an olive pip

**Another one of my long historical trade comparison posts**

Charlie Dixon - 25yo, 65 games, 94 goals, uncontracted - Pick 10?

Compare - (established key forwards or FWD/RUCs)

Mitch Clark - 24yo, 82 games, 65 goals, uncontracted, AA top 40 2009 - Traded for Pick 12 in 2011;
Chris Dawes - 24yo, 71 games, 83 goals, uncontracted, 2010 premiership - Traded for Pick 20 & 47 in 2012;
Jesse White - 25yo, 71 games, 73 goals, uncontracted - Traded for Pick 44 in 2013;
Rhys Stanley - 23yo, 58 games, 40 goals, contracted - Traded for Pick 21 in 2014;
Paddy Ryder - 26yo, 170 games, 117 goals, contracted - Traded for Pick 17 & 37 in 2014.

So based on history, not many prime aged key forwards get traded each year, but the trades usually involve some form of mid-to-late first round pick.

Mitch Clark to Melbourne for pick 12 is probably the closest in terms of talent/athleticism/potential. Remember at the time Fremantle offered pick 18 & 19 to Brisbane as a bid for Clark. AFAIK we're not in a bidding war and we've offered pick 10 as it is fair and about market rate.

If Gold Coast don't come to the party we could offer pick 10 to Brisbane in exchange for picks 19 (Leuenberger compo) and 21 on the first day of trade and get that signed off. Leaving only an offer of pick 19 & 47 (similar to the Dawes trade) for Dixon.

TL:DR - Based on historical trades Pick 10 is definitely fair, the introduction of trading future picks has just allowed the team losing the player to be a bit greedier.
