WACA Wallys

The way things are going now test matches against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe should be close and hard-fought series - should attract a bumper crowd at the new stadium.
But would they schedule such a game in wa?
I'm just glad your not suggesting australia play them. They would walk all over us at the mo))

Keep heritage gates at subi as an entrance to a small parkland. Sell off about 70% of the land to developers.
Give half of whatever $ are raised to waca and say its for ground lengthening, wafc hq, and shade - even if its retractable shade over mostly grass banks. Have metricon stadium like seating structure at each end of the wicket (ie simple open air structure, vastly cheaper).
Other half of $ from land sales to pay off debt and cost of demolition.
Let developers do landscaping like they do elsewhere. Heck chuck a manmade lake if they want to.

Tourism WA will grease CAs palm when/where it deems it appropriate, aka games that pull visitors.

Why would Tourism WA care to put games at the WACA instead of Perth Stadium? Not to mention they are part of the WA Government who own the new stadium...

It's almost like they were doing it deliberately to force people to buy more expensive tickets in the grandstand, or take out a membership.

I don't know how it happened but I got burnt, in the shade, in the stand

perhaps I'm just a princess

the stadium requires massive investment to bring it up to standard. A cheaper alternative is go full retro and just play all matches at lilac hill

East Perth looking to return to East Perth next year apparently, very unhappy at Leederville and wants to go to the WACA - Subi as well apparently.

Heard via basil this morning on 6pr

Mate, Subi Council own Subi - why would they give up the money?

What is the benefit to football ?
Why not do the same at the WACA ?

Depends how the contracts are written up. But since it is the government negoiating with football and not stadium management then you could be right.

Subiaco Oval has no future. Land's way too valuable. They're not going to keep it around for a WAFL club to play in front of 500 people.

Tell me what is the difference between Subiaco Oval and the WACA ?
The WACA is much better for residential being on the river.
Subiaco Oval is better being closer to transport and entertianment.

Correct. In normal circumstances you "own" the land up to the ceasation of the lease. I believe it is common in the ACT and France. Makes real estate cheaper because it ultimately returns to zero value for the occupant.

99 year lease in Canberra or the ACT but they wont turf you out, they will just renew it, but that time has not come around yet, but the Government can turf you out any time they want in reality.

Come 2018 nothing really except the 'WACA Wallys' sound inclined to kept their Sheffield Shield team there.

That's right Subiaco F.C. could move to Kingsway and cricket could move to Lilac Hill.
What would be the benefit ? Nothing unless they could do something with the land.
Both organisations need some money, Subiaco to downgrade and WACA to upgrade.
It seems quite stupid that W.A. is the only state where cricket and football haven't entered into mutually beneficial arrangements.
If they were to work together they could archive a lot.

Perhaps a reason. perhaps not, history has a way of repeating.
