Gotta love a few cynics coming in here and talking down the idea of upgrading the WACA. Is there a finite limit, or a set number, of stadiums needed per capita? Cricket is a very popular sport, and even though WAFL football isn't large, junior participation is not only large, it's also important. So too cricket. If they do somehow manage to get a boutique ground up and running for $200 million that'll be an absolute steal: to a government, that's not a huge amount of money when you're shutting up two big sports' for 20 years and helping out with their junior systems.
Perth is a city of 1.5 million people and it'll just get bigger. Cricket and footy isn't going to wane significantly in participation or general interest.
Three stadiums and an indoor arena of that quality and Perth suddenly has a very good case for having one of the best stadium suites in the country. Definitely better than Adelaide and Brissy.
