Anyone know if this is legit?

Edwards could well be back next week, imagine having both Smith & Edwards back leading into the playoffs

One source close to the Raiders told me they hadn't heard anything. Another on Smith's side of the coin told me that Smith was told personally by Commissioner Goodell in their meeting that Smith would be reinstated 'soon.' However, Aldon's agent hasn't been told anything by the NFL though, so it's a very murky situation that at this point is very much up in the air.

I'm not worried if we get Aldon back or not. Most excited about Edwards coming back. He's going to be a huge presence in the middle of our D which is only going to make it easier for Mack and Irvin on the edge.

Seven guys named to the Pro Bowl.

Carr, Cooper, Penn, Osemele, Hudson, Mack and Nelson.

7 alternates too.

Most guys in the league. Used to be a fan when getting 1 guy in was a massive achievement (Lechler, lol). What a time to be alive.

Thx to incentive bonuses, GM Reggie McKenzie says raiders will hit minimum spending threshold under CBA rules ie cap expenditure 2013-16

Another smart and patient move by Reggie.

So barring a miracle we will probably be one and done in the playoffs? Opportunity missed or a successful come back by making the playoffs?

Why is everyone assuming that we're cooked? Bloody hell. Yes, Carr is a beast, he's the MVP of the league this year. He's the spiritual leader of Raider Nation. But for crying out loud, we have plenty of other guys who are capable to step up and fill the void.

We have won games this year by not turning the ball over, getting turnovers on D, and letting the offensive line go to work and literally take the opponent's spirit. Those other things aren't going to suddenly disappear now that McGloin is the QB.

Best thing that happened today was the 3rd down conversion to Cooper to win the game. That was a BIG TIME throw to WIN the game. The conservative call would've been to run the ball, concede the ball to Luck and have to rely on the D. But we chose to pass the ball. We put it on McGloin's arm and he got it done when it mattered.

As long as he can keep the turnovers to a minimum, he's not going to be asked to throw it 40 times a game like Carr. We've got the pieces to run the ball and manage the game more conservatively.

While obviously all the talk is about Carr and how big a loss he will be, our run game today was pretty good, especially Richard and Washington. We will need both of them to step up big time now, along with everyone else on offense and defense for that matter, but our run game is hopefully good enough to at least somewhat make up for the loss of Carr.

Still hurts though. Heres hoping for a successful and quick recovery for the guy.

We have averaged 124 yards rushing this season. Ran for over 200 today. The three headed monster trio of RBs we have are going to be leaned on to get the job done. Our O-Line are elite run blockers, the holes are gonna be there no matter who is under centre.

We have lost one guy, but it's not up to one guy to replace what Derek Carr provides this team. If everyone lifts a little more, we will cover him.

I just want to add that Tim Tebow won a playoff game and their D was led by Dennis freaking Allen for crying out loud.

Absolutely no doubt that we have the weapons to still do damage in the playoffs.

Romo went down before the season even started, the Cowboys had to rely on a mid-round rookie. They were still able to do what they did. The Raiders, or the fans, it's understandable their sense of hopelessness, as it happened late in the season to us. But it's really the same situation. A team can overcome the loss of a star QB if it has the right system in place and smart coaches.

Exactly. And besides, it's not like we're asking McGloin to carry the team for a whole season. He's only got to play half decent football for a few games. Carr will be healthy enough for the Super Bowl and maybe even the championship game.

We have the pieces in place such that McGloin won't be asked to sling it 40 times a game. Run the rock, play the field position game with King. Don't turn the ball over.

My only worry is that McGloin in 2013 was quite the gunslinger. Made some GREAT throws but also got carried away and would throw into some ridiculously tight windows. He needs to be more conservative this time. Then again, having a supportive running game, and elite receivers on the outside is sure gonna beat having Denarius Moore and Andre Holmes as your top targets.

They also went 1-11 when he went down last season.

A team CAN get by. They've got a great run game and OL. Same thing we have. So it's do-able to keep winning without Carr.

With Carr behind centre.

No they can't. Packers, Steelers, Pats, Colts, Cowboys etc etc etc all struggled without their No 1 QB.
