So what i gather from thoughts so far is that everyone wants the game to be more dynamic and life like yet with easier controls....umm okayy.... Even if the game was in EA's hands i think it would have similar gameplay. AFL is simply too dynamic to replicate, the only way they could add any sort of diversity to the game is by incorporating individual personal attributes and evasive skills for each player and improving the brain of the AI with zoning and gameplans. Other than that it's a good base and the only way we can get close to a more intelligent AFL game is by supporting the developers we have no other choice, it's their inability to obtain the highest level of resources due to a low target population rather than the skills of the developers themselves so anyone going off about the quality is rambling nonsense, unless you'd be happy buying the game for $1000+ a copy then pull your heads in because it's simply not possible to create anything better with the current technology they are using, i'd rather this than no AFL game what so ever so stop having a sook. Maybe the game in Shanghai isnt such a bad idea after all. The little things will be patched up don't stress, which ******* cares enough about stats anyway big deal it's not the real thing.

Can someone just give me a score out of 10 please as I simply couldn't find a review for it and don't have time to crawl thru endless posts ....cheers
That is a terrible way to get a review on a game.

10/10.

Only played a couple of games. My pain points so far:

- commentary getting the names wrong
- dynamic camera is good in your forward half (45 degree angle). But bad in your defensive half (45 angle towards the opposition goal). It needs to be 45 degree angle to the goal of the team in possession no matter where on the field you are.
- defenders auto running off their opponent to the ball carrier. I wish I could limit this, instead of letting them do an easy over the top handball.
- kickins are just chaotic, stupid leads
- zone defense everyone stays static in their positions
- team lineup is reset between games in a season, not saved from the previous setup
- AI is off (too many speccies, poor goal kicking, poor decision making with the ball)

I'm semi ok with marking, but still don't know how to properly jostle (right now I hit the right stick and it just smashes them over...often giving away a free...so not true jostling).

Finally got the game last night, played for 3 hours and jesus, some of you are just negative nancys up in here. It's easily the best AFL game to date. Those of you that are saying ohhh it looks like ps1, do yourself a favour, go plug up a ps1 and compare it and tell me that this version is 50 times better graphics. It's not perfect, but I can live with this. We are literally 2-3 patches away from making this a pretty dam good AFL game. Once the marking is fixed, a few stat issues, a few bugs here and there, I'll be in for the long haul. It makes me excited because the next iteration could be the one.

Oh but the commentary is grade A terrible.

I messaged aswell and not heard back, I did set my profile from being appear offline to online then it appeared to start recording in the friends tab but not the myrank one.
OK thanks for your feedback. I messaged them too and no reply. Where do I find if I appear online or not? Thanks again. Definitely frustrating.

The exciting thing about the idea of Evolution 2 is that all the game modes and the great gameplay itself is already there so the time spent developing any future editions can be spent almost entirely on adding depth to the modes and extra layers to the gameplay as opposed to having to implement entirely new modes or rebuild gameplay

Maybe before adding depth, they could try making the game modes work?

err, the majority was already there from live 1 (Wii one they worked on), then live 2, now evolution. The only real difference is be a pro mode and changing a few controls.

Agreed! This is a very strong blueprint of a successful AFL games franchise, if nothing else!

Well obviously they won't start work on Evolution 2 until they've patched this one

They've also completely rebuilt the gameplay this time around and now have solid gameplay to back up the modes

Comparing it to big ant whose foundation games lacked any kind of substantial modes so future editions had to focus on building these modes in

I'd actually hope their next attempt at career mode isn't ripped from an iPhone game.

Trading needs fixing. Drafting needs fixing and I've read that fixtures randomise after a season.

Not really a career mode if those 3 things are broken

A lot of people were honestly expecting this to compete with FIFA or NBA 2K?
Who? Apart from a few trolls nearly everyone on here was pretty realistic in their expectations and hopes. All I hoped was it would play better than a 6 year old game which at the moment, it doesn't (imo).

Played a handful of games last night, it's pretty fun. I imagine it would be better playing with mates who are also terrible at the game.
My first few games we're just in the standard kick-off games, (medium difficulty) got rolled but I had no idea what I was doing so that was expected.
Changed over to career mode, made my character and plonked them in a TAC cup team, and even though you start at 50 overall everyone else in the league are trash so it's pretty easy to get a hang of the controls imo. The only real issues I've had were the marking, the stamina drain and sometimes the camera.
To help fix the first two issues I dumped all the points from my first two level ups in the endurance and marking attributes (Rated 54 overall with 97 marking lol). Endurance seems somewhat better but I still get subbed out halfway through a quarter sometimes and don't come back on for ages, marking, on the other hand, is super easy atm because all the other players are trash.
The only issue I don't know how to fix is how the camera sometimes spazzes out in the pro mode games when you get the ball around the HHF, you turn it to face the goals and then just before I go to kick it flips around and I end up kicking it the wrong way lel.
For the camera issue in pro try pressing i think its LT for ball lock if it spazers out

A few of my work colleagues and mates said they'd hoped it would be to a FIFA-esque scale, just as an example. Need I mention all the Facebook trolls too?

Fair enough. Probably best we don't mention the Facebook commenters. Facebook commenters in general are barely human.

Yeah true, was just making a point. I enjoy this game, its better than Live 2 and in my eyes level with Live 1, but for various reasons just doesnt soar above the pack in terms of best AFL game.

AFL Evolution has the potential to be the best AFL game yet, however I don't feel it is a finished product. As it stands the game has some key issues that should be fixed quickly as people are returning the game because of them. I have just compiled a short list of things that could realistically be addressed in a patch in the near future to make sure this game reaches its full potential.

1. AI difficulty levels, as it stands the gap between Easy and medium is too big. On easy you rarely get tackled, on medium you can barely get a kick away without getting tackled.

2. The Ai goal kicking is very flawed, seem to mostly miss easy shots but nail harder ones. This should be reversed and on harder difficulties the accuracy of the AI should increase.

3. The free kicks for throwing the ball occur too often, you should be able to give a handball away while being tackled, not thrown out every time.

4. The advantage rule needs to be tweaked so it is only advantage if you pick up the ball after the free kick has been payed but choose to start running or disposing it, not just standing there which in this case there is no advantage if you get tackled straight away.

5. The height of the ball when kicked. This was really disappointing and thought would be addressed in this new game. The height of the balls trajectory through the air is very low. In AFL, players all the time do high kicks into the air. Every shot on goal during play in Evolution doesn't reach any higher then half way up the posts. The trajectory of the clearance kicks for example could be tweaked to give a higher long kick through the air to a pack of players. The height of set shots is spot on.

6. Stats. At the moment the stats in competition and career mode aren't comparable for all players across the competition. To give the competition and career mode stats another avenue to it, it would be good to be able to sort all the players in the competition at once for a given stat such as goals, marks etc. At the moment you are only able to sort players on the one team. It would be Like a full competition player leader board where you can compare players across different teams. This Is something I really liked in AFL Live 1.

7. On career the players drafted have ratings that are way too high, the number 1 pick should have a rating no more then the low 70's.

8. There are not enough interchanges during a 5 or 2.5, minute match.

9. There should be a time option for 7.5 minute matches as I feel this would provide the most realistic scores.

10. Players should lead more regularly when you have locked onto them. They should sprint away from their opponents to create some uncontested marking opportunities. These are the only real issues I've had with this game. Apart from this I really enjoy this game however if most of these issues aren't fixed I don't know how long it will be before I go back to AFL Live 1.

The amount of people on Facebook I've seen post something along the lines of "THIS GAME'S GRAPHICS ARE PS3/XBOX 360 QUALITY! PATHETIC" is laughable. Fair enough if you don't like the gameplay but throwing a hissy fit because the graphics are PS3 quality?

How are your player ratings going?

Ok, So I got a message back from WW and They have confirmed that they are working on a patch for the game. They can't give a date on it yet but they are working on it now.

Also, to the people that think Twistie3 is a shill for WW. You could be on to something. o_O

His real name of Dean Milhe is in the credits under Special Thanks. It might explain that last video and why he didn't cover the NM vid on his channel (Though considering Wicked Witch themselves had to apologize for the NM footage, I can see why he didn't cover it.)
