I have heard word that resources are being allocated to secure this construction site in the medium term future.
What do you mean?

There is now a commitment from both sides that Roe will be extended over the Freeway and link to Murdoch Drive. Is that the site you're referring to?

So if I read tonight's Federal Budget correct, the state government will be allowed to use the Federal funds allocated to Roe 8 to start building Metronet instead?

Roe 8 seems dead.

Matthias Corrman has said WA can have the 2.3B for Metronet and they'll still stump up the original 1.2B if Roe 8 goes ahead. So 3.5B in total. Best of both worlds...make it happen McGowan!
If the federal government has 1.2 B laying around, then it can be used for something worthwhile. Increase funding for public transport (Metronet), rail freight or start planning for the outer harbour.

its funny but prior to the election it was all outer harbour this and that and since the election zip. So we are still in the dark about what will be done regards the existing problem of traffic congestion around Fremantle.

Can you remember what the ALP promised about the outer harbour?

They're upgrading High St, in the process they'll be demolishing FERN (Freo based environmental group) and a row of MRWA houses that are full of FERN squatters.

Expect the same protesters who didn't want Roe 8 to block the alternative upgrades. McGowan is going to have to break some hearts

The pledge is for $20 million dollars to plan it. Should the plan have been completed by now? Or are you being a little unreasonable, expecting this to be announced already?
its strange that two months after an election theyve been able to announce new big funding pledges for metronet...we are hearing nothing about this pledge.

They never promised to build it. Just "plan" it. Will not be happening anytime soon. They need to find a way to do the dredging without killing the remaining seagrass first. So may as well get used to Leach Highway doing its best impression of a carpark for the foreseeable future.

Bit of a difference between a $20 million planning pledge and a billion plus dollar funding commitment.
Kind of thing that will come out in the budget. If we have to wait three years for any word I'll agree with you.
