The Lions have signed 3 more players (McCarthy, Virgo, Hildebrand), following Ashmore yesterday. http://www.lions.com.au/news/2017-05-25/three-more-aflw-stars-resign

This brings them up to 16 announced re-signings. The most notable player not yet announced (apart from Harris, of course) is Emily Bates, although there was a pic on SFT's instagram last week of Zielke, SFT and Bates all signing back on.

Which is good to know, given 'officially' until this update from the AFL, Carlton had not re-signed any players from the 2017 squad. Still some big names missing, our 3 captains and marquee players, but I'd guess they would have signed contracts on day 1 and the club has just been keeping things quiet incase they needed some names to throw around as trade bait.

There's a slot of shuffling up and down pay scales depending on trades and clubs moving players down if they underperformed this season (see Mo Hope). It makes sense that these players wouldn't re-sign yet if they could get more money elsewhere etc.
 
Freo have a mass signing of 18 after being conspicuously absent in all trade talk. Notably, they haven't announced anything for Kellie Gibson.

Maybe Kelly Gibson was told to just nominate for the draft and they'll pick her up with a low pick. Or she'll be signed during free agent week next week.

My observations for what it is worth

Adelaide sitting pat did they use there B&F as their re-signing (Gibson and Thorn). Are they expecting lightning in a bottle 2? Not from the WNBL team but whether they can get another All Australian from the Free Agency.

Could some other team other than FREO swoop in on Kellie Gibson? Should FREO have traded worth their worthless first round pick.

The Tayla Harris trade with the AFL and its definition of a fair trade. Where were they when Hawthorn and St Kilda was making their mis-match? This reminds me of Chris Paul’s trade to LA Lakers.

GWS is an attractive place? Is this a destination club?

Did Collingwood and Carlton get their initial player lists wrong with List Structure?

Some of the Collingwood pensioners survived the cull.

Category B Rookies picked mostly by Carlton and Collingwood yet it will be harder to allow them play. Only 6 of 16 initial rookies survived to season 2.

The Butterfly Effect a worthless pick in NSW pick become useful in Melbourne.

How will we know if some players put themselves in multiple draft pools?

Surprised by NAB U18 Round 1? In regards to Qld beating WA and where is SA ranked.
 
Some answers, no they cannot nominate multiple states, so if Gibson nominates WA only Freo can get her.
GWS seems to be attractive as it's a bit of a 'clean slate'. Del Pos for instance seemed to want to get away from the pigeon hole she was on in Vic/Darebin.

SA u18s are rated below Qld, and even below NSW/ACT, and Qld is rated alongside WA, so the win is not a surprise.

The AFL is more closely involved in the draft and ensuring fairness, because the state based nature of it makes it inherently biased.

Every club can offer her something come Monday when the free agent period begins.

I assume Freo have talked to her already and told her to wait for the draft and nominate the WA draft and they'll get her with a low pick. Unless another club pips them with a better offer next week, although that seems unlikely given she is walking from the Crows in the first place because she was offered a paycut.

She also had stated she wanted to come home. What other club is going to come in with an offer big enough to entice a player, when said player has already stated there is a go home factor. She also had a job with the SANFL, which she will be walking away from.
 
I believe players can nominate for multiple state based draft

" Those who played in the AFLW last year but have not been offered a contract by their club for 2018 (unrestricted free agents) can be signed by any other club.
If a player was offered a contract by their AFLW club that was on a lower pay rate than last year (restricted free agents), they can reject that offer and be signed by another club at or above last year’s wage."

Does this mean Gibson can only go through the Draft as she can't be signed at or above last year's wage or did Adelaide do the righty and not make an offer.
