Coming off a back injury - was his first game back for a month. Game high 11 tackles fair effort - Country have a deep midfield too. Not sure he'll win games off his own boot as his kicking is average, contested work great.

Yeah heard about the back injury. 11 tackles? Promising to hear. I just couldn't see any disposal numbers etc. Thanks for the update.

How do you compare Worpel to Luke Davies-Uniacke? Obviously both inside mids but could you explain differences?

Davies-Uniacke better player than Worpel - cleaner kick on either foot, better decision maker. One thing I've noticed between the two that Davies-Uniacke is strong enough to stand up when being tackled and dish the ball out while Worpel isn't as strong and will either be tackled to the ground or just hold the ball in rather than disposing it creating another stoppage.

Both good at the clearances and in the contested situations - Davies for me would be ready to go from Rd 1, reckon Worpel might just need some time learning a few things.

Worpel is going to be a strong inside midfielder and they're always the safest come draft time - Should be top 20 but I wouldn't peg him into the Top 10 or anything like that at the moment.

Thanks Bisho! Appreciate the insight. Going to be exciting to see where they both end up!

Bish, I haven't watched a lot of Worpel's footy. Would you compare him with Rhys Mathieson from a couple of season's back.

Also pegged by some including myself as a higher first round pick but ended up falling a bit

getgaff,
When you mean comparing Worpel and Mathieson do you mean order in draft and story? or playing abilities..

Well for starters Mathieson slipped with no thanks to his 12.5 beep and I don't think not being the 'smartest' lad drafted rubbed off too well with all clubs.

Worpel has a more solid frame and by the numbers (& from watching) he is slightly better contested ball winner.

Both have/had their issues at U18 level of just bombing it forward so their Kicking efficiencies sit <60%.

Matho averaged 25 disposals (12 contested) in the TAC in his draft year
Worpel averaging 21.8 disposals (12.4 contested) in the TAC this year **

** NOTE: I've excluded his game v Northern where he went off with a couple of disposals within the first few minutes of the game.

So by those numbers his contested ball winning is better as well as from observation. Worpel a better endurance runner, Mathieson 12.5 to Worpel's 13.9 he ran at the start of the season.

Playing abilities. Both seem inside contested mids who love a contest and winning hard ball, both out of Vic Country and I think both Falcons boys as well.

When it comes to the draft Worpel may slide like Rhys did because of being labelled as "inside mid" only

I still think they are a different types of inside mid. Worpel is more athletic and more potential upside.
As Bisho said above, kicking is the issue with Worpel. He does tend to slam it on his boot. but his endurance and speed may counter that.

I would be very interested to see what you think of Worpel, once you watch a few of his games? Let me know getgaff

Sorry again to bring up Worpel Bisho. Just trying to gather some more on him, to see where to place him in my Phantom and Comparisons.

Comparing Will Brodie to Worpel? Anything there... Both ball winning mids? Both Vic Country?
Brodie at times last year was in the same boat with kicking.

I doubt it - while neither were 'goal kicking midfielders' if Mathieson didn't run a 12.5 beep he wasn't slipping as a far as he did.

Never like comparisons as two players are never the same, reckon Brodie more agile in the stoppages and probably built a bit stronger all around that Worpel. Think he might have a few cms on him too.

Not too bad though - reckon Brodie a better kick than Worpel.

Thanks a heap Bisho. Respect the fact comparisons are hard. I should of said plays like...
Brodie at 189cm/84kgs and Worpel is listed at 185cm/84kgs (incase you were wondering)
None the less thanks a lot for replying! Appreciate it a lot.
