I can't believe people still swallow this.

Ablett, Franklin, Dangerfield......
Players/managers don't wait until October to make a decision.

It's done. Martin is just waiting for the season to end before announcing it..

Cloke, Hogan, Watts.

Agree most leave if they put off talks, but not all.

I am very confused as to why Martin hasn't signed IF he is staying at Richmond though. His value is at its peak you'd think.

He did refuse to give into Freo's time line though and only sign when he was ready...

In an exclusive interview in the new June edition of Inside Sport, Nat Fyfe acknowledged the intense speculation that comes with off-contract stars in the AFL these days. But the 2015 Brownlow medallist was adamant that he would be held to any timetable, or that delaying his decision should be interpreted in any way.

“I refuse to just tick boxes, or bow to external pressures,” Fyfe says. “If you look at my history when signing contracts, there should be no surprises; everyone should know how this story is going to play out.

“In not signing, it’s not because I’m looking at other clubs, or holding Fremantle to ransom. It’s about me feeling comfortable with everything, because it’s a big life decision, and I may not get another chance to sign another contract.”

Can you say for certain Dusty doesn't feel the same way?

Thanks for re-enforcing the point, that nowhere here does Fyfe categorically state, "Talks are off until the end of the year"... Put simply, Fyfe was open to negotiations, provided the arrangement suited his personal agenda. This is vastly different to Martin's situation, who has stated he is NOT open to any negotiations until the end of the season.

It's very clear!!

Cloke and Watts are not particularly relevant examples as putting the talks off was also beneficial to their respective clubs, i.e from a clubs perspective if the deal is reasonable; they can go!

The Hogan example is pretty similar in that he waited until the end of the year and eventually re-signed in early October, however, I don't recall him stating that negotiations were off until then end of the year. It was more a protracted arrangement...

Maybe. Just maybe.... their personal agendas are different? given one is going to play finals and possibly win a Brownlow and the other's season is done and dusted?

but by all means get your hopes up, It will only make your tears all the more delicious.

Why don't you just post a bundle of string and ask everyone to guess how long it is?

Hogan also still had a year to go on his contract i believe? Not exactly the same scenario.

Am I doing it right?:drunk:

It's exactly my point though. People think Dusty putting off contract talks = leaving, this is totally ignoring the fact that Dusty put off contract talks a few years ago until the end of the season, EVEN TOURED GWS......only to then re-sign with Richmond.

and as Dr. Phil would say....

I have absolutely no doubt in the world that both Martin and Fyfe have totally contrasting "personal agendas"!

As for "getting my hopes up"... if that's honestly the sentiment you deduce from my posts then I suspect life must be an on going struggle for you!

I am purely bringing to your attention that you incorrectly making observations based exclusively on mistruths to suit a delusional agenda.
You are a 'posting contradiction'! Stick with the facts and don't cast dispersion!

Im look on forward to the melts when Martin and Kelly both inevitably shun North, because it will happen.
I hope they get Kelly. Will weaken GWS and lift Lol Norf from 17th to 14th.

Or maybe he'd like to win a final.

Hard to win finals from 17th.

I wonder what Richmond are going to do post Dusty?
We won't find out until 2024 at the earliest.

His manager is overseas.

And yet both Gale and Carr say they are in regular communication.

It's fun to dream though! #lolnorf

hes gone mate, deal with it.

So where's he going?

North Melbourne? St Kilda? Sydney? Collingwood? Other?

Will obviously want to be at a club who can win a flag in the next 4 years or so. And while yes, Richmond are in the 8 I think he's had just about enough of what Hardwick is selling.

Can't see Collingwood going after another mid. Would be terrible list management.

Aren't they always? Just like Kelly's manager went overseas for a month and couldn't possibly do any business while he was away.

If only we could invent technology that allowed us to conduct business and communicate without being face to face...one day...one day...

It's almost as good as players saying they're waiting till after the CBA. If only someone could think of a clause to write into contracts to increase with the TPP% increase.
